Best tranny for a heavy nitrous car?
What is my best bet to get a transmission to live with a 3700+lb fbody and nitrous? Car is currently cam only and a 150 shot but this winter I'm going to a 370 and at least a 250 shot. Goal is to be,able to daily drive the car(overdrive) and run high 9s. Also what would be a good converter?

If you wanna stay 4l60 rpm hands down at least level 6.
If more race option a th400 would work from RPM or jakes performance.
If you wanna step up you can do a 4l80 with transbreak from RPM or Jakes performance.
Best converters I would choose Circle D or Coan

I would have someone check the auto trans tune. I ran my level 6 rpm in my c5 at 3400lbs but it was a 440 ls7 with tfs235 and a 300 shot it lived till I killed the motor.
My current level 7 rpm transmission held in my 427lsx with TFS 245 and 300 shot making roughly 900 rwhp and 3660 lbs .

I'm Running a TCI 6x with no issues in a heavy car with a larger shot of nitrous...
a little bit high priced for some people... but when you consider it is a built trans that will handle 850hp without upgrades, and you can upgrade the Clutch hub and the input shaft to make it good to over 1000 hp....its well worth the money...and it comes with almost everything you need
I spent less than $6000 complete to install...and that included my flexplate and crossmember and hoses and wiring needs

What is the problem with your FLT trans? I would check with them and have it checked out first.
Our Level 6 and 7 4L60e transmissions have been taking 700+hp beatings regularly in plenty of heavy cars. We have our Level 6 and 7s in Trailblazer SS, GTOs, full weight f-body verts and an ever increasing number of 5th gen Camaros.
With auto transmissions, most of the time it isn't the sum of the parts as much as it is the builder. They are much like engines. You can put the best parts in the world in them. But if they aren't assembled correctly they will fail every time.
