454 cubic inch? You wont need much gear with that torque monster. Something between the 3.23-3.73 range if it was mine. 3600-4k stall.

i concur,
3.23 gear with a 3600 stall & you might get some street traction with mt et streets....?

good luck!

i like the idea of less gear and less stall to give it more use in different areas,street/strip manners. the other reason is that i am wheelchair bound and will always have extra weight with me.

i was thinking the lower gears in the 4l80e compared to the 4l60e would help with traction and give some more top end speed in each gear ?

The only difference in gearing is the 1st and 2nd gear.

3rd is still the same meaning your top end will be the same with the same rear gear ratio that was used with the 60e.

Put a 3600-4000 in it like has been said and a 3.55 rear gear.

Correct yes 3rd and od are the same giving the final top speed the same but the fact that 1st and 2nd are lower wouldnt i be going faster through those gears shifting later allowing me to be at a higher speed before shifting into 3rd
thinking about side by side roll ons.
I know a lower gear will pull it out of the hole faster, but i have 450 tq@ 2400 rpm
