Default JW 93019LSD with NO Spacer????? Hub fitment.....

We are currently installing our new Coan 5500rpm 8" Super Sprag stall and noticed that the converter hub to crank hub fitment doesnt seem right....... Ive spoke with JEGs as well a JW Eric from JW Performance who both stated this flywheel doesnt require the spacer but I seem doubtful. I also spoke with Coan about it when they were building our converter and gave them the JW Part number 93019LSD flywheel I was using. Coan called JW and said they got the same story and would build the converter without the extended hub like a normal converter.

I am wondering how this is possible???? Is it because the JW Performance flywheel is a "HEAVY" *** unit that doesnt really flex??? Or do they get away with it because of the dish lining the bolt holes up more center to the hub???

We ran the old GER 4200stall about 8-10passes off the T-brake with no issues and it had the same fitment as our current Coan.

Running a Powerglide for those that are curious.

Heres a quick picture of the fitment.........

Thanks for any help or suggestions in advanced. Kind of starting this thread as I can find any info on others running this flywheel anywhere.

Did you get this figured out? You need to make sure the pilot of the converter is engaging in the crank, very important!!

We have a TCI spacer on the way...

According to Coan they talked to Tracy @ JW Performance and they specifically ASKED about the Pilot on the Converter!!! Tracy told them it need the same dimensions as a SBC converter!!! The JW 93019LSD unit only eliminates the need for spacers between the converter pad and the flexplate. Otherwise the 93019LSD requires a Hughes or TCI spacer or a LSX Converter.

In the end it was a FAIL on JW Performances end when Tracy instructed Coan they didnt require the pilot spacer.

Now I will be looking for a Driveshaft!!

Or an FTI spacer as we make them as well.

I think we should call them an extender, or pilot extender. Spacer makes it seem like we are spacing the flexplate out. Just a thought...

In JW performance defense they have gone above and beyond and informed some of the major retailers, (Summit, Jegs, etc..) about the error on their part and are correcting the problem in a professional manner!!

It is nice to at least see a company that will admit mistakes and go out of there way to correct human errors!!!
