question about deep pans
anyone here run a deep pan on their 60e? im just curious how much cooler the transmission would be if i ran one. if anyone has a pic of how far theirs hangs down can you post it along with what brand.
also, is it true if I were to use the pan from the full size trucks with the drain plug that it holds about an extra 1/2 qt or so?

A deep pan helps fluid temp because it takes longer to heat a greater volume of fluid. It also has more surface area exposed to cool air to radiate heat.
The truck pan probably holds a qt more. It's cheap too, about $20 new from GM.

I have been thinking about getting this one?

"Derale Cooling Products transmission pans can double your transmission's life by dropping its temperature 20 to 50 degrees. These pans hold additional fluid and have heat-conducting metal tubes on the bottom. A replacement gasket is included"

I wouldn't use it if you paid me because it hangs down too low. I doubt it cools much; it won't cool at all in stop-go traffic which can heat up the trans especially with a high stall converter.

I am very happy with an deep (truck sized) aluminum pan I found on ebay. Search for "GM 700R4 Polished Aluminum Transmission Pan Deep 4L60E"; the seller is
abad71camaro. This holds one extra quart, same as the truck pan. (Most aluminum pans on ebay are standard depth, this is the only deep one I found.)
They also have it at their website:

I didn't catch that one. I'll be putting in a B&M cooler soon.
