Default anyone use the cruise control for trans brake?

So my cruise control module won't fit due to turbo piping. So i wired it so that when you switch cruise on its armed and when you hold in the set/decel button its on.

Just wondering if any one else has done this and if they have it on a relay. Mines directly wired but Im not sure the amps a t brake solenoid pulls.

Put a relay in the circuit. They are cheap.

I spoke with my trans guy he says the solenoid draws maybe .5 amp. I wired it direct and it works great.

Hey Alex brilliant idea, what car and trannie are you using, wander if I can put a brake on my 4l65e in a GTO, the price charge for the kit from RPM is $700. plus $150. shipping each way, not to mention removal/install labor, I would use it with a separate trans switch. Thanks David.

We set our cruise control to function as our line lock button. It works great!

Did you relay for the line lock?

Is a great idea to keep it simple.

Is it possible to still use the cruise control though...

I did the same thing. No extra buttons to worry about.

No just get a test light and with the key on have someone push the cruise control button and check for power. Just make sure the toggle switch is on or you won't have power to the button. Hope this helps

Off topic but has anyone used the a/c as a two step? I got the idea from a guy at work. Carb guys can change a solenoid so when they flip the a/c on the idle will increase to desired rpm.

I was thinking with hp tuners you can do the same. The software has tables for idle speed with th a/c on. Obviously you have to unplug the compressor or not have the a/c parts in the engine bay.

Sounds like an awesome idea even with the ac hooked up. It shuts off once you go full throttle any way
