Default Transmission Rebuild ?

About a month ago my 02 Camaro's Automatic Transmission wouldn't Reverse and wouldn't move while being Pushed in Neutral. I've Checked the linkage. My next step would be to rebuild the Transmission. Does anybody have a estimate of how much that would Cost by a mechanic ?

Where are you located?

Have you checked your fluid level?
Does it move forward in drive?

The 1500+ mentioned is accurate for a remove/rebuild/install; but high for just the rebuild. Probably around $900-$1100 for a stock rebuild.
If there is any metal debris or even significant friction debris in the trans, the converter also needs to be replace or at least sent away for opening and cleaning; the cooling lines also need to be flushed; any aftermarket cooler needs to be replaced.
People that try to "cheap out" on replacing the converter and cooler often later complain that their new trans also failed. Just flushing the converter is never enough.

Why bother with a stock rebuild if you're already in there fixing it.

I agree on the last part. I lost my 3-4 clutch pack, I'm buying a new cooler, upgraded lines and had my converter cut, cleaned and restalled.

Yesterday I was missing with it again. Yoy can hear it Shift into gears. With Neutral it was still goin forward as if it was in Drive. Then as soon as I put it in park and let off the brakes it would roll forward for a second then stop.
