Default Which trucks come with 4l80e+4.8l?

I think most 4.8's came with the 4l60e but some got the 4l80e? Instead of pulling the motor and trans, I'd rather get the whole truck. Plan on throwing it into an older XJR and remote turbo. 4.8 has been known to handle higher power on stock internals than 5.3's and 6.0's correct? Any help is appreciated!!

I think a 3/4 or 1 ton van would be what you're looking for. I'm pretty sure any track that came with a 4L80e would have a 6.0L.

I don't have the answer about which trucks, but I am inclined to agree with Fry.

You should start a new thread in the Gen III Internal Engine section, but there are lots of threads of people running 1000+ HP Turbos with 5.3 engines; I know of one personally. The 4.8 has the shorter 83mm stroke (instead of 92mm) which would let it rev higher, but the internals are no stronger. I think "turbo" people buy the 5.3 instead of e.g. a 5.7 or 6.0 because they are dirt cheap and they can easily hit their HP goals.

I found my answer, a guy said the 4l80e was optional in 2500 vans/trucks behind a 4.8/5.3. He has a 4.8 with the 80e. So would an 80e be standard behind an lq4/9? Going to do more research on the 6.0's, hopefully they're just as stout.

I see you have an n54 lol whole reason I'm on this quest for power is to keep up with my cousin when he eventually upgrades the turbos. Right now it's a toss up between an xjr or an e39 wagon. Would like the wagon better but no one makes a complete kit. (electrical side of things)

I assume you saw the Hotrod mag article where they boosted a stock-bottom-end LS1 to 1200 HP and couldn't break it despite 50+ dyno runs.
http://www.hotrod.com/how-to/engine/...g-bang-theory/

Any LS1 turbo should have no trouble blowing away any N54 (BMW 335i). With the biggest turbos, methanol injection, JB4 and other tweaks I've heard they can get down to 11.5ET. In contrast my friend with a home-built turbo LS1 5.3 is running 9.75 and he hasn't maxed it out yet.

I did see a 335i with only the JB4 computer-add-on and 50% E85 run 12.5 at the track last year.

Of course its a completely different story on a road course which is where I race my 335xi. (With all-wheel drive and snow tires its great in the Michigan snow too.)

I did! But they had to open up the motor and modify a few bits. I'd rather not open up a motor, will either mess something up or end up spending too much money defeating the whole purpose of this project lol.

I'm leaning towards the lq4/4l80e. Goal is 600-700whp using a single hx50/hx52/hx55 rear mount.

Here's my E30 that was totaled a couple weeks ago. RE11's, coilovers, m50tu swap, fun car to drive in the twisties. Had it up for sale a week before the accident. I miss having a comfy 4 door cruiser though, the E30 just isn't a practical DD.

The only thing the Hotrod people did internally was increase the gap on the piston rings.
When I just had my LS3 stroker built by Livernois Motorsports they wanted to know if I was going to boost it; the only build difference is the ring gap (and maybe the ring type).

You might want to post in the Forced Induction area to get opinions on your build plans.

If you read the hot rod article, the motor was not a ls1 but in fact a 4.8.

LS1 can range in size from 4.8 to 6.0 liters:

So, yes an LS1 with a short stroke and small bore.
Incredible they repeatedly ran it past 1000HP.

Vans man, vans. Last year I bought a complete 2005 4.8/4L80E dropout (even with driveshaft/yoke) for $800. I didn't even haggle over price.
