Default TCI SSF 3500 40 meg video "City driving" as promised.

My cable modem does 390k/sec so i could stream it..

This is my car, driven in the city, within most speed limit laws (35/40 mph) on a bright morning.

This video is 40 megs and 23 minutes and can be boring, but if you wanna see/hear understand what a torque convert will behave like being unlocked and locked, i tried my best

Man, you covered it pretty well.. What gears do you have in your car? I have pretty much the same setup Drivetrain wise.. But I have 3.73 gears... My want rev up that higher before it starts pulling.. I cant even tell I have a stall.. I guess that shows how much gears will tighten up a converter... Nice Vid. though....

So is that the effects of special programming to lockup early? Seems kind of looser than what I hoping for. Thanks for posting it!

nothing special on programming really, just programmed to lockup at a very low rate in attempt to save on gas. helped by about 1-3mpg, was getting 9mpg before it locked up at 50mph due to the fact i don't cruise 50 in a 35 often. too many cops got me in check around here.

Since i have hptuners i can retune the desired A/F and other things to evolve the car to better city mpg, but the way i drive in the city bites *** for mpg, 12 or 13mpg was the best i've ever seen.

gets 22-24mpg on the freeway though. Got 25-26 with the 2.73's all stock with cruise control freeway speeds.

Always a sacrifice. And that converter is way too small for my needs but im not in the $$ position to change it now.

It stalls at 3500 and has a 2.5 STR.

Needs some more in gear tweaking on the ecm to lower idle and have ZERO driveline lash (cam issue/tune issue). I just havent had time to bring it back in or muck with it myself. My bro (mikeyws99) is getting married in 30 days, and i close on a house in 10 days (signed contract last friday) so things are too hectic.

btw i suggest the TCI SSF 3500 for no cam/all bolton, its a tad small for the cam i chose which isn't a big cam. I would have gone to 3800-4000 if given the choice now that i think about it.

As you can see it's not that bad until lockup occurrs. Loose yeah, but lockup is so low its there in no time. I'm sure each combo (engine setup+verter) is difference. I imagine the torque of my car is less than a non-cammed car at low rpm's.

i just cant stand driveline lash, and without a bit of road time+tuning a 112 lsa cam will have the annoying driveline lash at 900-1000rpm locked up in 4th, and trust me its both annoying and not good for the driveline. so up the idle IN gear went.

I still have the idle in neutral/park to 700 which you hear at the end. i spose if i wanted to show off i could throw it into neutral at the light, but the car is notably quieter when NOT loping and i've managed 3 tickets in the last 9 months, so im trying to stay low key lol.

Wow...., thanks for the video. That was MUCH looser than I was imagining. I'm going to have try tracking somebody down who has one, and drive theirs, before I go for it. Thanks again for the vid.

Keep in mind the STR(looseness of the stall) is 2.5. Thats fairly high, Yank makes a 3500rpm stall with a 1.6 STR. The biggest advantage of a high STR stall is a better 60'. If your never going to see track time then i'd suggest a lower ratio. If anybody has a SY3500, i'd love to see a vid comparing the two.

I have the TCI 3500 with a 2.5str.. & mines nowhere close to being that loose.. The only time you can really tell theres a stall there is when you try to start up a hill from a dead stop.. It also locks up around 38mph... Maybe the 3.73's compensate for it a good bit...DUNO???

i think vig's are rated (actual) higher than 3600. at least from what i've read a vig 3200 is not a 3200 stall.

then again, take this into consideration. EVERY MOD you have, alters the stall. It's witch science. A TCI SSF 3500 was probably a 3500 stall on a bone stock car, once you start cammin and bolt'in on, you change the torque curve, and likewise the stall changes.

More torque makes a 3500 stall bigger, in general is what im told (on full out launch).

I can't say why mines looser than anyone elses. it may be the shift points are more aggressive or higher. I could post my shift points (non) wot here for you guys to analyze, maybe a combo of gear and rpm shift points versus tps thats causing it to stick around in gear longer. I need to do a log of this and see what gear's & RPM i'm at with lock/unlock infoz.
