Default What size converter? Supercharged

I have a 2001 trans am A4 , its currently having work done this week.

Its bone stock and im installing a ATI P1SC alky/water setup upgrading my fuel system enjectors pump etc. and im getting a stall converter shift kit and 3.42 gears installed. I will be running street tires until next summer when I can afford a 12 bolt, I think I might break my rear end with my HP on stock end with DR's.

Now I told the shop Its gonna be a Daily driver street car but I want to take it to the track and race it too. so he recomended a 2800 stall converter. from what ive read you think It should be higher? 3200-3500?

let me know what you think

Thanx
shaun

My vote is for TCI 3800 converter , but a 3500 may better suit you since you dont have a cam.

ok I called the shop and he just prefers the 2800 himself but saif If i wanna go higher like a 3200 its my choice ill just be driving around at higher RMP's but it will get off the line quicker better ET. but how much quicker will a 3200 get in the powerband than the 2800? Most liley im getting a vigilante 2800 or 3200 I think.

I dont know about a 4000 that seams REALLY high for a D/D

I was getting the gears for $325 installed is it worth it or should I save the cash for something else?

should my next upgrade be exaust? suspension? Rear end, drag radials? Im afraid to get DR untill i get a 12 bolt unless the stock will hold since its a A4 not a M6 it might not be AS bad. this is the first car im seriously modding so any input is appricated. every thing is going in steps as I have money so I cant do it all at once of course.

How much power are you going to make? At what rpm do you get boost?

If the set-up is mild, you want close to 4000 stall for best performance. If you are going to run a lot of boost and have it on tap above 3,000 rpm, then a 3500 stall would do.

A Vig 2800 acts like a 3300 stall and the 3200 acts like a 3800.

Im gonna probly make 450-500 RWHP depending on tune and how much timming/boost i can run when its tuned.

I dunno what RPM ill make boost im leaving all those details to the shop.

Im thinking vig 3200 or PY3500 then? I want it to stay very street drivable and not get to loose but when I nail it I want to be in boost almost instantly.

Have you driven a stall? Because it is a 3600 does not mean it goes to 3600. I have a yank 3600 extreeme and its not bad at all for my DD.

A PYE 3600 would probably do nice as would a Yank SS3600 if this is your first stall.
