I have taken the stock x mem., cut the trans mount off, slid the x mem. under the tail housing, and welded the mount on the back side of the x mem.
I think G force might make a x mem. that also fits.
A lot depends on what engine mounts you use, if the engine is forward/back,
low or high.
Best to use the Holley pan or similar, mount the engine low, helps with driveline angle.
Ck out Holley's mounts, they did a kit I think using an 80E.

I would do what Forcd is telling you.
I have the gforce and it does bolt to the existing mounts in the sub frame but made my SBC lean way to far back towards the firewall.
So much so, it broke my distributor cap and rotor.
Plus, they are pretty heavy.
I think this is what I should have done with my t350 xmember.

I'm assuming your doing an LS swap at the same time?
Then it won't matter I guess how far back it leans as there's no dizzy to hit.
I would google the G Force x member for pictures to see what's ahead of you.
Like I said, I wish I saw the picture I posted BEFORE I bought mine.
I would have been $300 towards something else and a few lbs lighter!

I know that holley makes a specific A-body tranny crossmember. runs in the 300$ range. i plan to use that cross member for my LSA/80e swap in my 72 lemans if i hack job on the stock x-member doesn't suffice.
let us know what you end up doing!
