TCI flexplate and 4l80e ?

Default TCI flexplate and 4l80e ?

Hello everyone!!

I have a 4l80E and TC coming from Jakes in the next week. I ordered the TCI399754 flexplate with spacer and bolts.

When I opened the box and was I specting the parts I noticed the spacer does not fit snug in the center hole of the Flexplate. I also tried to see if it would fit over the crank part and sure enough it doesn’t. Am I missing something? Wrong parts? What’s going on? Here’s a pic, you can see space all the way around.

Try flipping the spacer over.

Did that. Still don’t see how it fits. Does this go over the TC snout? The box did not include instructions

Yes, The spacer goes over the TC snout, The smaller end presses into the butt of the crank.

I don't like running spacers, Call Jake & see if you can get a extended pilot converter.

Copy that!!! Now that makes sense. I tried to put the narrower end into the crank but wasn't able to get a snug fit. Then again the motor is still on the stand and not really able to get a good look inside.

Will call up Jakes tomorrow. Thank you Sir!

Be cautious using the TCI flexplates. They can cause a lack of converter clearance.

Nice flexplates but they tend to run "thick".

Just did one on my 4l80e swap. Clearance was perfect, and it fit really nice.

Jus curious, did the motor you are using have the 4L80E GM spacer on it-you cant use it with that FW

Are you running the pilot bearing? My motor was mated to 6 speed and still has the bearing installed. It appears I have to remove it in order for the TC snout to sit inside for support.

No, originally my motor was mated to a 6 speed.

Pilot bearing should not interfere with the converter hub.

What if the pilot bearing is sitting flush if not just a hair below flush? It shouldn’t matter but the engine is an LS3. The provided spacer will not be supported inside the crank due to the pilot bearing now allowing enough of the spacer to be inserted far enough.

Ive only really dealt with ls1t56 setups. The pilot goes on the very inner of the crank, the smallest section, and yes its flush. The converter hub goes in the bigger outer portion. They wont interfere if both are installed correctly.

That’s the same thing I have read but I haven’t saw anything about LS3 cranks. Check out this pic. Not the best since it’s on the stand.
