Fti supplied 3 bolts but they are quite short. They may work. Oh, and the spacer went in lol.

2nd question...i pulled the trans pan and did a filter, but I can't get the filter collar piece out of the trans to replace. What's the trick? I don't want to mar anything up going at it with a pick. Seems like it needs to be hit at the outside edge to crush it inward?
We recommend 1/8-3/16" clearance, i find a much easier way to measure this is to use drill bits instead of a caliper or feeler gauges. As long as you are within that for converter pull out you're good to go!

Threw my washer/spacers back in and got her buttoned up.

Now that I think about converter pull out...it can't come down to a 16th or 1/8, as long as you are pretty tight to begin with, to where it would cause failure? That seems odd that just an 1/8 can cause problems (pull to far out), at a certain point I get it but that would mean the converter only seats 1/4" on to the pump? Seems small for such an important piece withstanding a lot energy.

Does not have to withstand a lot of energy if you're thinking in terms of engine horsepower and torque. The pump is spun at engine rpm to pump the fluid, at a prescribed pressure, to the valve body to operate components. The fluid comes off the turbine to drive the stator, that's where the lot of energy occurs.

As the converter comes further out of the pump it looses engagement on the pump tangs. when it puts an uneven load on those it can do a number of things. crack/break the hub, crack/break the pump gear(s) and tangs, and if its pulled out enough OR hardly at all the converter will push the pump gear into the stator side of the pump.

Ohh, So thats what the 2 notches are in the converter? Those sit on the pump tangs? Now its making sense if thats what that is. Never really thought about it before lol.

I had the FTI 3800 nitrous converter in my Fbody... it drove really good and still hit hard with 3.73 gears.

This is against a TVS 2300 Coyote off the bottle from a 40 roll(New owner driving).

This was vs a FBO Coyote from a 40 roll.

Well I'm getting there. Decided to check shims a little better and need some thicker ones for peace of mind.

Also doing the duals. Love Cincinnati, look at that beautiful rust.

Got a chance to start the car yesterday. I found some thicker washers and reshimed the converter so "pull out" was a little less.

Fighting with the exhaust still and once thats good i should be able to test drive it.

'Love Cincinnati, look at that beautiful rust.' I'm up by the lake near the snowbelt, snow and salt. Sometimes when the roads are white, it's not snow IT'S SALT.

Yup. Salt water and metal don't mix.

Car is off jack stands and currently driving. Had to throw about 8 quarts of fluid in it. Seemed like a lot but I did converter (added 1 qt), dropped the pan and did a filter too. Probably shouldve added 1/2 quart on the last check.

Only hiccup was I did speed engineering duals and forgot to tighten down the wideband sensor bolts, those made a hell of a noise.

May need a retune. Sometimes it wants to stall at low speeds. Almost like a vac leak. Lots of surging. It did it before the stall sometimes too. Who knows...pcmforless tune.

Nice, a good converter definitely changes a car. Makes it so much fun to drive.

Happy to hear it is performing well for you! light pedal drive-ability still there for you as well?

I ran PI #7 converters or about 5000 stall and that was after going with to little stall and changed 3 more converters to get up the the 5K mark. I use Circle D for all my converters now and they are dialed in on quality and setting up what you need.

So in a thread where the user has already chosen, purchased, installed, and tested a converter...shared that they are happy with the performance...and had the vendor respond to the report of good performance

You thought it was the right time for you to jump in and discuss PI converters in the 5000 stall range...then talk about Circle D converter when that wasn't the brand purchased

Did you just read the title then decide you needed to share your input without reading any of the thread...or did you just not care about the rest of the thread and think your opinion NEEDED to be heard despite its irrelevance at this point in the thread?
