Default Determining stall speed

Quick question. Asking for a buddy of mine, I have always had T56 but he has a 2000 z28 with aftermarket convertor. How can he tell the stall speed on this? Also hes been getting the P0757 SES code, basically feels like tranny is stuck in 3rd gear from a dead stop. Once we clear the code car shifts great again. Any thoughts??

What does your question have to do with stall speed? Repair the P0757 code.

Is there a way to find out what the stall speed of a convertor is while its installed? That's one of my questions. Sorry if post was confusing.

There may be a sticker on the converter if not all you can do is guess.

Rated stall rpm is typically very close to 'flash' rpm. From a stop, go full throttle while watching the tach. It'll jump very quickly/instantly from idle rpm to its' 'flash' rpm and then more slowly,sometimes not, climb thru that gear. My SS3600 flashes to 3600. Video recording (smartphone) the tach will allow better analysis.

Well there is multiple "stalls" for a converter. True stall is what we like to go by which would be the stall RPM that is seen while a transbrake is applied or when the input shaft is sitting still(if brakes are good enough your' foot brake stall can be the same)
Then you have foot brake stall, most cars push through the brakes before reaching true stall, that one is pretty much self explanatory from there.
then there is flash stall which FirstyrLS mentioned and described quite well.

MOST manufacturers are pretty good about stamping the converters themselves these days, you may get lucky and be able to see something while the converter is still in the car, we stamp ours on the transmission side around the impeller.
