Default Glide / converter issues flash speeds

5.3 LS glide turbo s475

after speaking to a local converter shop , same place that built my current converter. This guy seems to think straight from

(from idle stomping on the accelerator , flashes to 2800, then as boost ramps in flashes to 6000 and starts coupling from there , drops down to around 5850 on the shift.)

that the fluid is too slow to return to the transmission from the converter , and that if it only flashes to 2800 even with 18# boost it shouldnt then flash up that much higher.??

ill have to speak to a trans shop next ? ive logged converter charge pressure at the coolant lines and get 80 -90psi at any rpm other than idle

So just to clarify... this converter builder is saying that the the converter is dead heading fluid flow and restricting charge flow? Making the converter too tight?

i was a bit lost but i believe , the fluid flow of the trans might be struggling to keep the converter full , and thats why its so loose as boost comes in , but reasoably tight (2800rpm) with just motor .

we didnt really get into whether tightening or lossening the converter , more when i told him the 2 flash speeds he thought the trans was the problem

Did they build the converter as motor only (hp & torque) converter or as a higher hp & torque motor on boost converter ?

was always built for turbo , but not sure on the specifics at the time of build

Where are you measuring the Cooler Charge Pressure from?

Are you also monitoring the Line-Pressure?
If so, what does the Line-Pressure behavior look like compared to the Cooler Charge Pressure?

Converter charge just off the trans cooler line.
Haven't checked line pressure yet, after speaking to a trans shop today though, they said Definitely the converter at fault wouldn't be a trans issue

Sounds normal to me. That's exactly what a converter does with boost. You'll need a 2-step to control launch rpm.

I have a 2 step, but for street driving the car I'm referring.
My mates setup flashes off idle to 3000 then starts locking up at around 4000 with boost?

I'm asking coz mine flashes much higher than off boost flash. And then won't get good couplijg until 7500

Do you have any data logs of this and can you gather the line pressures vortec mentioned? That info will help us to be able to offer better advice instead of just throwing darts at the wall.

Trans/converter is out of car now so can't get the line pressures.
Ill get a data log later today, basically shows straight up to 2800 then rpm curves in same as boost 1 second upto 17psi and 6000rpm. Then take another 2.5seconds to 7200 and shift point.
2nd gear I only get out to 6200 on these runs.

dropped my converter off to the place where it was built today , i figured cant hurt to cut it open and have a look at this one first . He thought from the colour , definitely has been way overheated probably from a lack of fluid flow. Has suggested finding a trans shop that has a flow machine that can test it ?
any merit to this ?
this is the trans im running
