The truth about beefing up the 4l60e
"so what parts do i buy to rebuild it? is there a kit that you can point me to? Im sorry i am not really able to read the threads for hours to find the info since i have very limited internet, is there a youtuber or exact forum that can walk me through the rebuild first time through?"
I've made a parts list in threads before. So have 3+ other guys that have commented in this thread alone. Just do a little reading. Or use google and spend your money with a company that sells a kit.
if you have time to watch football on sunday (or soccer or basketball or tennis or formula 1 or nascar or whatever)
or go out on the town with friends.
or watch TV or netflix or any other time-waster...
Than you HAVE the time...you just don't want to spend the time.
I've spent the time. I've skipped weekends out and about. I've ignored NFL games on sunday. I've missed a BBQ or two. If you can't even read threads to find free info, why do you expect anybody to spell it out for you.
Here's an little snippet from your PM

Seriously though, I always think of you as somebody who found your own way to do things and I won't ask for any list, but I'd like to know do you still buy/install shift kits, or can you eliminate a kit and just make NEARLY all fluid mods by drilling the plate "properly" based on your knowledge? Do you change springs (like using SHIFT KIT springs) and boost valves, or can you accomplish the same results without aftermarket parts? Do you use kits like the 7CS regularly for mostly street cars, or is it overkill? Are your plate recommendations standalone or are other parts required/assumed?
I guess this is very important because lookers here may seek out your posts (as instructed to), and if they follow some not intended for their own specific application, they can be detrimental if things are different on their vehicle (light car vs heavy truck, 2WD v. 4WD, NA v. boosted, 3.08 v. 3.42 v. 4.10, street v. S/S v. strip, OTHER PARTS, etc.) Getting so many "hits" may be confusing; maybe Edward, Ted, etc can make a "Maroon Monster LS1 Greatest Hits", a "vorteciroc Greatest Hits", a "PBA Greatest Hits", etc, and those named can check them for any disagreements, corrections or comments. I started doing something like this, just not divided up--one big dumpfile as an email to myself--and it got too unruly and unordered.
I appreciate all you help and contributions and thanks for all your help!

Another less familiar excellent poster is clinebarger... he has posted on a different site a complete rebuild...

I will use sonnax boost valve, 7cs springs yes, etc
but no kit
and there doesn't need to be a "greatest hits"
I'm just some loser from the middle of nowhere iowa
I'm not a genius, I certainly don't know it all, I learn every single day I work in the shop.
I've burnt up alot of ****
I've broken alot of parts
I've had the 60e in and out of my camaro enough times to be able to do it blindfolded.
I look back on posts I made or theories I had or ways I did things from 5 years ago...and it's very different than today
and maybe in another 5 years it'll be different again.
So...nobody here is perfect.
I'm certainly not the end all be all for 60e info.
I have some things that work, and maybe another guy has a way to do things that work better.
This forum isn't a "how to" book or a step by step guide into how to build a transmission for your specific car.
This is a place to share info, have conversations about our craft, learn, share, teach, etc.
It's the job of anyone reading this forum to consume that info, pick and choose what they want, understand as much as they can, and make their OWN decisions/theories/modifications.

I've had the 60e in and out of my camaro enough times to be able to do it blindfolded. As a user, dont want to be you. I want to do it 1 time. So why not savinng us from being you? You enjoy seeing other people struggle?
I have some things that work, and maybe another guy has a way to do things that work better. Lie. Almost each suggestion i see from another builder, you pop up and show a better way doing it. Thats why EVERYONE here on the forum consider you as the last, approving word.
This forum isn't a "how to" book or a step by step guide into how to build a transmission for your specific car. Then what are you doing here? The only thing i see you doing is teaching and correcting others. Im not saying it's a bad thing. this is awesome. but your ego is high in the sky.
This is a place to share info, have conversations about our craft, learn, share, teach, etc. Im here to learn. like 100% of the new users that register here.

Royal, it sounds like you're to busy to put the time in now. maybe in a few years when you have more free time. you can start slurping information now/taking notes/learning when you have time. you're not the only one who is busy. i didn't have a shop or well paying job for over a decade. didn't stop me from doing the hobby but it slows you down for sure. welcome to real life.

I am not even a ball-breaker usually.
All I want to say is:
In a Modern World where most information about anything, is freely shared (Internet and all)...
Many people seem to almost expect all information to be free.
I am not a Young guy, and I am not an Old guy...
But when I was young, I had to pay for internet access by the Minute.
Thus the Information (on the Net) at that time was not really free.
Now, so many people have unlimited Internet on the go or at home...
They are accustomed to free information.
Asking us for information that is private regarding how we do our Job...
is really not much different (in this day and age) than me asking you guys for your Social Security Number.
Please try and just be happy with what We do share.
Thank you.
1) enjoy the information that I read on this board everyday,
2) enjoy reading Vorteciroc/ Maroonmonster/ PBA/ etc. verbally bitch-slapping people trying to do stupid things, and
3) enjoy Vorteciroc/ Maroonmonster/ PBA shitting on bad transmission designs.
They talk like I do, except I don't do much transmission work, so I keep my mouth shut around here. I'd like to sit down and have a beer or six with those guys.
It blows my mind how GM (who was the largest, and most successful Corporation in the World) could make so many poor decisions...
Most of the time going against the Employees (almost always experts in their fields) recommendations!
Well now the GM Corporation ceases to exist (a Company with over 600 Subsidiaries, in all forms of Enterprise).
They died...
It serves them right! G.D. M.F. Idiots!!!

Now we have the GM Company...
and these dumb-asses are far worse off, than "The Real GM" was at their End.
Lets see how long they last...
Never completely trust any information...
regardless of where it came from, or who gave it to you.
Always verify information provided to you, on your own.
Always research, and always verify.
Educate yourself to the point where you can intelligently determine the probability, and relative validity of any information of interest.
This is the most critical step in processing information... reason and rational are a must!
Most people would suffer far less, and live significantly more intelligent lives...
by simply practicing what I just stated.
Always try to better yourself...
and always do it for yourself!
