Shifting Issue?
I just recently bought a 2001 Trans Am WS6 with 80k Miles. On the 4 hour drive home I decided to play a little. Upon reaching 90 MPH the car would bounce off the rev limiter and not shift. It shifts and drives fine under normal driving conditions, no hard jerking of the transmission or anything. I made two pulls and it did the same thing both times. Anybody know what could be causing this? So I can figure out where to start my diagnosis? Thanks
There are no engine codes showing. The car is mostly stock except for a SLP Intake and a Corsa Cat-back Exhaust.

With 3.23 gears which I'm guessing you have, 2nd gear with a 4l60e and 26 in. tire goes to 90 mph.
Meaning at 90 mph you are trying to make the 2-3 shift and most likely your 3-4 clutch pack is done.
Check fluid level

Check fluid level
90mph is the ballpark of where a WOT 2-3 happens
fluid level first
pressure check next
rebuild next
Cayenne is on top of it
I'm definitely leaning towards the 3/4 clutch pack is burnt out. I've watched a lot of videos and done research on the 4l60e transmission and I understand it's a common issue for this transmission and every thing I saw matches the same symptoms im having . Anybody know roughly what thr labor cost to have the 3/4 clutch pack replaced ? Or is it hard to do yourself?

So quick update. I have not got the chance to take it to a shop to have it diagnosed. I checked the transmission fluid and it does not look or smell burnt and is at proper level. I was driving down the interstate the other day at the speed limit around 75mph. I was able to gradually increase my speed to 90mph with about 3/4 throttle and it shifted into 3rd no problem. It just seems to not want to shift while at WOT. Any idea why that might be? or is it possible the 3/4 clutches are still warn out and slip under high RPM?
I'm currently repairing a self inflicted 3-4 fail.
Once the 3-4 slips, that's usually game over for the clutch pack..
Mine did go hard enough that the fluid is black.
No way to get the trans clean inside (Which is critical ) without a full tear down.
I've been quoted 600 to 800 + potential for some more $$ in parts for a range to
tear it down replace anything I actually ruined.(Me doing the r7r on the trans)
I am swapping to a new heavier duty torque converter since cleaning the
one full of grunge is about 1/2 the cost of a new one.

OP you can try over filling your trans by 1/2 a quart and see if that helps. You may also make some adjustments to the 2-3 shift points in your tune to have it make the 2-3 shift a little earlier. If that doesn't solve the problem it is most likely the 3-4 clutch pack.
