Ah man sorry to hear that . This has most certainly been a series of unfortunate events for you . Odd to strip one out . It happend on the dyno a few times but that was after many many install removals. Are you sure bolts are long enough particulary if you are using spacer washers, But if a stock converter not to long as the bolts are right over the lockup clutch can can damage if to long. Your options are limited , You could try tapping the hole to the next thread size, The new bolt would be slightly heavier but I do not think enough to affect balance in any notable way. Or replace converter.

Yeah seems like every step is something new happening. I don't know if it's all bad luck or if maybe this is a bigger Beast of a job than my skills called for. I think I'm going to replace it honestly. With how everything has gone I'm scared to even test my luck with tapping it.

There should be more than enough room for a Helicoil.

OK so I think I'm gonna try the helicoil but just a cya question incase my luck stays horrible. I've been reading around and the ls1 flex plate is a 11inch bolt pattern for the converter and where my stock plate needed the bolt holes elongated I'd assume that means the i6 trailblazer tq is the 10.75. Now with that in mind and me being so paranoid if there is another problem (balancing problem, helicoil not working, etc) can I just swap the flex plate to a 10.75 or is there something else I don't know about compatibility? Just want to have bases covered at this point. Still almost leaning a new FP and TQ at this point but also don't wanna pull the tyranny AGAIN.

The VCJX converter also has an 11" bolt pattern. There is something else wrong.

OK so then yup totally has to be stripped. Thanks for chiming in before I bought a new FP. I did order the heli coil and feel comfortable that'll be the fix.

I can't get the fu***** helicoil in either. I'm Pulling the transmission out AGAIN. I'm defeated. This has been a waste of a month, so much time, effort. It's only getting colder and colder. I'm gonna lose it. I'm a broken defeated man currently.

Maybe the fbody gods have smiled down on me. Don't know what happened but I dropped the trans, ran to the parts store (45ish minutes round trip), replaced the tq, fought the transmission onto the jack from beneath by myself, and just got it butted smooth against the block. All on about 3.5 hours

My God the difference this time around. Used the prior mentioned tactic to use a bolt on each side to pull the trans to the motor. Just checked my clearance and it went from 3/16 on the old converter to the 1/8th on the new one. Stupid reason to call it a night but I'm out of super glue and one of my shims fell off. I really think this is gonna be a wrap soon. ITS A CHRISTMAS MIRACLE!

Bahumbug! Is there anyway to get the torque arm mount in with the trans in the car?

It's almost done. Drive shaft is in just gotta bolt it down, hook up the o2s, run the trans cooler, drill out the old manifold studs, run new ones, fill the oil, and fill the atf. Oh question too are the bolts for the linkage bracket the same as the pan?

I had to call it a night. All that's left is to torque the pan bolts, drill out 3 studs on the bottom of the exhaust manifold, fill the trans, and run the cooler.

Well if both off ground and not posi one will spin one way the other opposite, But in any case parks pretty easy see if you can trun drive shaft with wheels off ground in park and verify the shifter arm is in the park position and the if it is not holding can only be you forgot to tigten the park bracket or left teh park arm out all together, Easy fix just have to figure out which thing ,

Can I get away with holding off on the trans cooler? I'm struggling to get the black piece off the front of the condensor and from what I'm seeing it involves pulling the fan and radiator forward and honestly I really want my car back and would be fine doing this in a week or so.

Do you mean just looping the two cooler lines together?

Because if that's the case, I would say no.
