2-3 shift problem
i just had 3.73s installed on my car and on sunday i had someone using hp tuner correct for my gears, firm up my shifts by 20%, and decrease shift times by 20% he also got rid of some of my torque management(stock comverter).
the car shifts fine on the street(2-3 shift wot) but yesterday at the track it kept bouncing off the rev limitter (2-3 shift only) and only shifted after i took my foot off the accelerator. Please help me figure out what is wrong.

These are the possibilities:
If your tuner has your “shift mph” or “shift rpm” set to high this could happen. With LS1 Edit you have to reach both parameters before shifting. In this case you could lower it or raise the rev limiter enough to where it can reach that speed & rpm before it hits the limiter.
If the speed sensor on tranny is going bad this can happen. This is common with the 4L60E.
Last it could be the 3-4 clutch pack in the tranny. Not shifting into 3rd at WOT is the first symptom you have for this scenario. If this is the case your shift’s going into drive and OD will probably have some slipping action. If it is the 3-4 clutch pack you might be able the get it to shift by putting back some of the torque management that you removed.
Good Luck,
Al

Sounds like what my tranny did when it first went out. 3-4 Clutch pak is about to go out. If you adjusted ur rpm & shift points, dont worry about setting them back, not gonna help. What kind of power are you putting down? Send me a PM. JP

I know that when the needle bumps the limiter in an auto the car will shut off its fuel. Try to lower your shift to that sweet 100rpm right before.
Jimmyblue: Must move your shift MPH down by a scale of
about (old/3.73) to get back to the same
MPH:RPM relation as before.
I'm I reading this correctly. If my old shift MPH was 45 then I do
45/3.73?
Because I have a similar problem. I went from 2.73 stock to a 8.8 w/3.27.
Or is it Old/3.73 (old being the old gear ratio) So it would be 2.73/3.27.
then 2.73/3.27 * old MPH= new MPH?
This seems right now. Just let me know if I'm doing anything wrong.

well the problem has moved to the street now but it doesnt hit the rev limiter it shifts out of second at wot but the rpms drop to about 3800 and rise incredible slowly with my foot still floored then if i start easing off the throttle the car will eventually shift again and it will accelerate like normal its like its not shifting fully into 3rd gear
sorry im not that good at explaining exactly what is going on

When I swap my rear from 2.73 to 3.42 I also would hit the limiter 2/3 shift. But when I would leave it in OD like it was mention before, fixed my problem. Now when I adjust the shift points I alway have better luck with the MPH window then the RPM. Also I switch to a vig converter from a Yank & it slips more so I in stalled F-type fluide, shift great with no more problems in D or OD 67,000 miles going strong (knock on wood)..
check the level of oil in the trans, i thought my cluteches were burned up, and it turned out to just be acceleration pushing back the oil so much it wouldn't shift. MUCH simpler than trans fixing, totally worth a try

I feel for you brother as mine was doin the same thing as yours that night at KK. It was nice talkin to you. I did get mine resolved as I lowered my shift mph by 4mph. That really seemed to do the trick. I'll be installing a 3800 stall
when I return from Va. on Sept. 1st. Hopefully this will help my 60'.
Good luck. Give me a shout.
