First post on this board!
Dealer installed converter today. I was set to be a little leery 'cause of the 2:73s. Happy to report I think I made a good pick, since I plan to stay with the 2:73s for the time being. I can see Nittos are in my future.

Um so your dealer didnt even question you about puttin that sucker in? I would think that would be the last place that I would get mine put in. Do you mind me asking how much he charged you, and did he make u sign an agreement sayin "My tranny warranty is now VOID!" ?? LoL
I ask all of this because i have a ST3500 on the way! Please comment on the 2.73 and this converter.. as this will be my combo as well. I want to know what kind of "looseness" you aer experiencing, and hows the launching?? More importantly, is there a HUGE difference in rolling punches?? I hope so, cuz that def what i want!! Thanks for any info!

I went with the dealer 'cause they have a first-rate tranny man -and- GM warranty no problem. I'm at around 45/46000 miles now .
It's fairly loose, but with the little driving I did today I found I was rapidly getting used to it. It's locking up in OD at 50, but once it locks I can drop back to 45. Around town I was just keeping it in D.
RPM drop at half or WOT is VASTLY improved, and the engine sound is unreal. Didn't get any dead stop takeoffs as the roads were a little slick from earlier rain, besides I can get squirrly from a stop with these Kuhmos anyway.
Oh yeah, the install price was 250 for labor + costs for front trans seal and fluid.

A suggestion from a fellow ST3500er?
Don't bother with Nitto's, go srtaight to BFG DR's or, better yet, ET Streets.
I'm assuming you want the DR's are for track use only, the BFG's won't last on the street. I had NO luck getting Nitto 555R's to hold that converter on the street or the track.

Thanks, TR. I'm mostly a street guy, too far to the track. I'm thinking Nittos might be best for me, I need good all around driveability. Heck, anything has got to be better than these Kuhmos for dry traction.

Definitely don’t try BFGs on the street long term. The lack of handling is very frustrating. I only use mine at the track now.

Finally got a chance to Autotap, no codes. Idle seems to have stopped "hunting" so much. No fluid level problems, dealer trans guy got that right the first time.
I can see how the tc not locking quickly could annoy some who want a "stock" feel car around town. It is kinda funny the way people look at you in traffic, probably thinking your tranny is on it's way out.

So are you lookin at about 2K rpms before you start moving forward from a stop? Did you get a a chance to launch from a stop yet on those non DR's?? JW how tricky a launch is on the street with the converter Dont worry, Ill be going the Nitto DR route too!
I cant wait for mine!

Ahhhh... Yeah, Nitto's would be the better street tires. BFG's would never last, but would hook great.
