Can anyone tell me what's the best size tranny cooler to run?
I am in the process of converting from an M6 to an A4.
I am getting a B&M Supercooler but need to know the dimensions that would fit best for our pointed little front ends.
Can I use 11x6x1.5 or should I go bigger.?
Thanks for the help.
Sorry, tranny is a Yank 4L70 w/ Pro Yank Extreme 4000 and will be raced often.
Thanks again.

I'm running the B&M 24000 GVW. I've got it mounted about the condensor midpoint on the pass side. Around town/cruising get 10* or better below pre-install. Haven't checked it under race conditions, but it sure seems to radiate a lot of heat.(real scientific)

The car is used for street and two classes(hopefully) of drag racing.
The size you guys are talking about is 11x6.5x1.5.
So it goes inside the nose area or the other side of the rad.
Sorry to seem green on this but I've never dealt with automatics.

I just use the B and M 16000 GVW. That is what i recommend. The 24k is just too big and blocks too much radiator air flow IMO. It also makes installing a FTRA a PITA.
Good luck,

I also use a B&M 16,000 GVW cooler. With an SY3500 ‘verter my temps stay around 190 to 200 in HOT weather after a good hard beating, and 180 to 190 in cooler weather. I have a 180 stat.

I'll point out that I use only a 16,000 GWV cooler too, but I don't live in a climate as hot as Vegas.
I noticed when I had my blower, that the cooler wasn't enough for road racing doing punches in 2nd and 3rd gear, where I was really working the converter hard. Part of that may have been because of general blower cooling issues. Due to my current tuning issues, I haven't rechecked it and now the weather is cooler.

Ditto. That's the combo I'm running.

I mounted mine on the frame that’s in front of the condenser. I just drilled two holes in that frame and bolted it in right there. I then made two holes in the underside splash guard and ran the hoses through that. It’s the first thing that hits the air before the condenser or radiator.
I’ve had it set up like this on two different LS1s now with no problems.
