Default Is a trans cooler necessary with TC 3500 stall.

Just ordered a TCI SSF 3500 stall and TCI flexplate is it necessary to get a B&M transcooler?

Let me know guys.

Thank you

That stall is going to generate a lot of heat... keep that trans temp down! It makes a big difference!

Is it possible to install the transcooler after the shop puts the TC and Flexplatein? Because I kind of already ordered the TC and flexplate already. I have the appointment next week. Someone told me I can hold off and do the transcooler install my self because it is easy.

Trans cooler is an easy install, also a 160 thermostat helps too.

Don't forget to get a trans temp gauge and put it in. You really need to be able to keep an eye on the temps.

IMOP, trans temps can get to high on a stock converter, i've ran one with my stock and aftermarket converter. Its 50 bucks that could save you a few grand.

I really wish I knew half as much as I do now back when I got the car. One of the first things I would have done is a trans cooler. THe first year or two I did lots of donuts, burnouts, etc and the tranny probably got pretty dang hot.

I know a few guys that arent running coolers and they have BIG stalls.. But, they don't drive them on the street every day either. So, in my opinion I'd go ahead and spend the $50 bucks and be done with it. Cheap Insurance!

My tranny cooler should be here soon. I can put it in the car now, correct? (on the stock converter)

As for your question: YES YES YES. Emphasis cannot be put more on it. If you're running a bigger converter than stock, a tranny cooler is a must. I believe the biggest one you can get is B&M's 24,000 and it is only about $55. If you can afford the converter, you may as well put a little extra into protection for it and your tranny.

Won't hurt a thing with the stock converter. I could hot lap all day long if I wanted with the cooler and making use of the fans.

Just make sure to install it right, connect it up from the top(exit) of the radiator, not the bottom.

YES! hell put a scan tool to your car it will scare you the temps you can easily achive with that stall.. the bigger cooler the better and even then im having to do a manual fan switch ((and mabye more tranny cooling mods ie. pan))

BTW, its nearly impossible to over cool a transmission...
