Default Is this a good dyno for an ST-3500???

I dynoed the car and here are the numbers before the ST-3500 convertor and after. I lost a little bit of HP, but gained a lot of TQ!!!

Before ST-3500:
328.6 RWHP
344.5 RWTQ

With ST-3500 (unlocked)
314.1 RWHP
370.7 RWTQ

What do you all think. Good or not? See sig for mods.

The only accurate way of testing out a converter is the track.

seriously though..you didn't loose to much at all by my standards, but you picked up major major torque!!

Why would there be a loss of HP if the Yank is more efficient than the stock converter?

It just adds to the mystery of dynoing an A4 w/converter.

I wonder how Yank does it. I wonder if the converters are really as efficient as they advertise.

You have mods VERY similar to me, and we're putting down nearly exact #'s. I'm running the Vig 3200, and I did 315 RWHP unlocked and 332.9 RWHP locked. I would like to see what your car puts to the wheels w/ the converter locked.
Get it to the track, and watch it shine. You can't beat the performance of a good torque converter!

The way Yank dyno tests their converters is very different than how most of you do. By using the Yank Tranny Tricker, the dyno operator can hold the transmission in 3rd gear at idle. They let the tire make one rotation off idle then stab the throttle. This will show the true torque multiplication properties of a converter, plus the longer pull gives a more accurate reading of top-end efficiency. It's the only way to do it right.

Stabbing the throttle on a car that's already going 70mph on a chassis dyno does little to show torque multiplication of the converter and makes the looser converters look very inefficient compared to the stock converters. Stabbing the throttle from a dead stop shows everything.

I dynoed...

Before ST3500:
312rwhp 325tq

After ST3500:
307rwhp 361tq

Between the two dyno's I went from clogged cats to no cats, so that is why I didn't lose as much as you guys did. I'd say your losses sound about right. As Patrick G said, those numbers aren't real accurate anyway so you shouldn't sweat it. I clicked off a 1/4 ET whih is on average 8 tenths of a second better with the ST3500 so I couldn't be more pleased, why should I care if on paper my SS has 5rwhp less if I'm runnning almost a whole second quicker at the track?
