Just purchased some longer bolts for mine, worked out fine. The short bolts work good with the stock flywheel, but the TCI needs the longer bolts. Used all six bolts with mine.

My vote goes for the TCI flexplate. i have one with a yank converter - no issues thus far.

speedinc stocks them and ships out quick!

www.ls1speed.com if you're interested.

i have a 2002 where the flexplate let go and 1/4 of the flexplate went through the bottom of the bell housing, removing a large chunk of cast aluminum. it broke off 2 of the bolts holding the stall on as well as breaking off one of the ears of the oil pan and cracking the other and breaking off 3 of the rear cover bolts.

my friends 99 just did the same thing to his motor

these flexplates are crap. if you are anything more than a header car you need them. his car just had nitrous and it killed the flexplate. the 2002 i have was stock and it broke its flexplate.. i just ordered the TCI flexplate. its a great piece, just remove the powdercoating with a razor blade. im using it on my 4000 stall/cammed car and i have not had problems with it so far.

Its not absolutley nesesary but a good idea What can happen with both paint and any coating is the coating breaks down and since it acts as a space between the converter and flex plate once this happens and otherwise tight bolt can suddenly become loose

Yeah I have already learned what can happen from loose bolts and a transmission. I called you last week about loose bellhousing bolts.

They said that loose bolts on the bellhousing would not lot it rock up and down and that you said that only to cover your ***. So long story short I bought a new one and am installing it myself.

Typical the funny part is that if had broke the pump we would have fixed it anyway and the suggested a new installer. I hate *** wipes who try to shift the blame , If we mess up we will say hey we meesed up and cover it in the warranty terms. Bit we didnt leave the bell housing bolts loose. but even then we would not have left you hanging

Man I hope to hell the only thing to get screwed up tranny wise was the flexplate. I also have to buy a new starter because one of the torque converter bolts sheered off the front part of it. But I have a buddy that is a manager at O'riles and is gonna get me one at employee cost.
