Only drag races, not any of the dozens of other kinds of racing

The auto vs manual war is one that will live on forever. I prefer a manual 9 time sout of 10. You're more in comtrol, there's no waiting on downshifts, and I can hold a gear anytime I want, for any reason. Want to clip the rev limiter in 2nd instead of shifting to 3rd on an autox course - sure thing! Want to downshift 5-4-3 coming down into T10a at Road Atlanta with perfectly revmatched shifts so as to not upset the chassis as I'm braking from ~140 MPH - no sweat!. Want to drive to work without actually thinking everymorning in my luxurious Volvo with a V8 swap - auto ftw

I would be scared to use any auto for serious track racing....
Your taking a turn at 100+ mph at .9Gs, the car is sliding a bit
and starting to go into oversteer, you give a bit more gas to
balance and car, and the LAST thing you want is for an auto
to decide to shift at that critical moment. An auto with
FULL manual shifting would be OK, but no auto shifting on a
serious track racing car. Well, that's my opinion anyway.
Love my auto on the drag strip though; tune the shift points
and just press the gas pedal.

Watch the almost lack of a burnout to warm the tires, very soft take off and painfully slow shifts where you hear the RPM dropping between each shift. Believe it or not that run right there won owner all 25 points for the drag racing portion of the Grand Championship at LS Fest!!
Now again on 200 tread wear street tires it ran 0.40's and placed second in Autocross at Goodguy show, placed 4th in 0-60/60-0 stopping at Run Thru The Hill where car competed with cars with ABS system and was 1st in Drag competition.
Now that just one of the real all a round manual Cars/Hot Rods out there that will kick your Auto Butts. Cars that are not one dimensional straight line cars like you guys are always bragging about. Bring your auto's out and see how well they can compete in the real world...

I loved my T/A when it was bolt ons and a 6spd. But now I actually have some power the th-400 with a manual valve body and 4600 stall is way more fun to drive than my old6spd- Never thought I would say that.
The manual valve body gives me the best of both worlds, but gas mileage sucks- oh well I didn't buy the car for gas mileage.

I LOL inside everytime I see the look on peoples faces when I tell them I took out the 6spd for an automatic. The look of pure confusion is priceless. Most think im nuts, and proceed to ask why. I just tell them it got too fast so I needed to tame it down some, I was getting skeeered. Usually its from retards that drive cavaliers and jettas that have zero automotive knowledge aside from what they learned from the fast and the furious. I got a friend at work that gives me **** all the time, can't wait to take him for a ride and scare him shitless!!

I have been 6-speed since buying this car but the older I get & the manner in which I use my car is leading me to a auto. I'm just getting tired of dealing with ALL manual related things from components to shifting in heavy traffic constantly.
I can say I'll be 100% happy with my swap once its done & wont miss my 6-speed at all. Car will be faster/more consistent when I wanna go to the midnights & easier to drive in rush hour traffic. The older I get the more I lean towards autos. Maybe someday I'll have a restored 1st gen with a 4-speed manual. but till then I'm goin auto with everything I own.
And funny thing is I used to be one of the guys to poke fun at auto guys too, LOL.
