Default Help Choosing a Converter and Questions

Hey guys i am new to the whole stall scene but i have income tax check coming and have 1100.00 to spend on a cam or converter. Dont know which one but want the best bang for my buck. Here is the current status of the car. 98 ls1, Right now i have borla catback, kn filter, lid, bellows, used to have crap tires when i ran at the track, transGo shift kit, new good tires definetly hook up better. Best time before was a 13.191 @107.89. There is a local place that i can get the converter and tranny cooler for about 1000.00 or a cam for 1100.00 just don't know which one would be better. thanks in advance guys

A good stall will do more for your ET than a cam will. Hopefully you are getting a proven converter for your money. Read some threads in this forum before buying.

guage is not needed (get a good plate type cooler) and tuning is probably not needed.

A thousand sounds high for a 500$ converter
you should be able to get the install with cooler for 300$
not sure where you live but you may want to look around for a better price
