While driving today my trans would not upshift, it would just start out in 3rd and stay there.Also threw a ses light at the same time.I pulled over and checked the fluid, it was full and looked fine, temp was 160.I reset the pcm and the tranny shifts fine and no ses.

Should i be worried? What the heck happened?

Next time, if possible, ATAP it and find the code.

Have you had P0300 codes thrown before? The Multiple misfire code seems to have some effect on transmission operation...shift solenoid signal or TCC lock-up.

Otherwise I would assume you are having shift solenoid issues...are your running synthetic ATF?

I do not have auto tap yet <img border="0" title="" alt="[Sad]" src="gr_sad.gif" /> so i do not know what codes have been thrown.I have heard about the stuck solinoid code, does that make the trans start in third untill it is cleared? It seems to be ok now, could a desaster be brewing?

 

Well i thought it was ok but it just happened again. I guess i'll order atap and find out whats going on.

If you get that code combined with the no shifting, your solenoids are definitely an issue; either toast or clogged.

 

It's the 2-3 shift solenoid getting stuck all right. Been there, cleared that. It was typically ocurring in low speed 30-35 MPH slow roll traffic during construction season. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" /> Never had any problems at the track or under highway driving. ATAP would show no heat problems with the tranny.

I was going to have the solenoid replaced but didn't bother after I got ATAP because there's always a PC in the car anyway. You can ATAP to read and clear the code on the move with no problems.

The option without ATAP is to shut the car off for about 10 minutes and the computer will allow the transmission to return to normal operation if the solenoid isn't completely toasted, but the SES light will stay on until the error is cleared.

Thanks guys for all the help. I orderd A-tap and a used laptop for the car.The car has been ok this week but i'll have a-tap on board soon anyway. I am glad to know that it is a small problem so i do not need to worry about getting stuck far from home. <img border="0" alt="[Burnout]" title="" src="graemlins/burnout.gif" />

 

I wonder why the P0757 on happens to 01's? I am on my 3rd tranny and all of them have thrown this code and started free wheeling. We logged it on a Tech II and it seems to alway thros the code from 4th gear.

The cure: drive around town on 3rd and you won't see this problem again.
