Default SY3500 vs. PY3600E NEED HELP!!!

OK, I currently have a Super Yank 3500 with 3.73 gears and managed a best of 1.81 60'. Not too shabby with my road-race suspension and a low STR.

I have my eye on the Pro Yank 3800 Extreme. I noticed from Yank's web site the effiency of both is the same @ 97%. Does this mean that I wouldn't give up any "from a roll" punch by going to the PY3800E on the street?

Also, I would think that by upgrading to the PY3800E from my SY3500 I would gain 60' (maybe to low 1.7's) without giving up any top end (mph) at the track. And on the street, I'll have a hell of a time getting from a stop unless I go to a lower gear or something.

Should I make the switch??

-Jim

BTW, I plan on eventually getting a 100 - 150 shot of nitrous.

I have the SY3500 and it works great for me. I must admit that I could handle a little more stall. IMO it would not be that big of a jump in stall. I bet a few people would say if you are going bigger get the SY4000, PT4000, or PT4400. I would try the 100 shot on the SY3500 first and feel the difference. It is supposed to handle the 100 shot pretty well. I really haven't heard much on the PY3800.

Good luck

The PYE 3800 is going to hit much harder off the line; are you going to be able to hook it up?
I ask because I've seen bolt-on cars with the SY3500/3.73 combo cut 60' in the high 1.6x to low 1.7x range which is .1 better than what you're seeing. Either you need better tires or the suspension is killing you.

I know, my 60's aren't what other's have gotten. I tend to think it's my road-race suspension - especially the bilstein HD shocks. What is the race weight and suspension setup of those other SY3500/3.73 guys who got the 1.6x 60's?

I would think a better STR would help since I'm getting traction... no?

If you've got plenty of traction, the extra STR will help.

The amount of time you're going to spend with this switch - I just don't see how its worth it. Try to get your times down more with your suspension and tire setup before switching converters.

Your money is better spent on a cam and springs IMO...

I use ET Streets at the track - I don't see how I can get any better. I might be wrong, but if I'm getting traction, tweaking the suspension won't do anything for me...

Since I want to keep my engine internally stock, a cam is not an option for me.

Sounds like the only thing that will help me is to get more STR?? BTW, I've been saying the PY3800E... I actually meant the PY3600E. Don't think there's a such thing as a PY3800E.

I assumed that Mike was going to make a custom converter for you. I'd move up in stall to a 4000 if you will only spray 100 shot. With 150 shot, 4000 stall is on the edge.

Why not buy your nitrous now and spray 100 shot out of the hole on your current set-up?
