Default Is Fuddle Really That Bad?

I am looking for a torque converter for my 98 T/A and am wanting to spend around $500 or so for the converter. I was originally wanting to go with Fuddle because they seemed to have good prices, and make a good converter, but it seems that alot of the members on here bash them pretty good sometimes. The question I had was, are they really that bad? If so, why? Should I stick with buying a Fuddle, or go with another brand? Thanks!

I think you will find the heavy bashers have personal agendas. There is always more to the story than meets the eye. It appears to me a minority of individuals have made it a mission to lible Fuddle, which speaks volumes for their intentions.

I always go back to the same question, what would Fuddle gain or what would be their motivation to deliberately create friction with ppl. when they know its such a public and verbal community? Nothing. So I guess it might come down to the fact everyone is different and some ppl. have less tolerance than others.

I have never heard of a converter NOT being delivered, nor Fuddle say you will never get your money back for an undelivered product. I have heard that some orders will be delayed due to foundry issues, which have since been sorted. I have, however, heard many stories about how they go out of their way to make sure you are happy with the choice you have made, and at their expense fix things if they don't work right. I guess that doesnt seem to fit right with some people who must positively have stuff right here right now and stuff everything else. I dont know any Company that would enjoy doing business with these kind of customers, and I dont suppose those customers like doing business with these kind of companies.

fuddle builds a great converter and backs it with the best warranty. some here try to validate the fact that they spent way too much money by bashing a company that sells a product that is just as good as the one that they overpaid for, but for a reasonable price. I run a fuddle in my 8sec capable car and couldn't be happier with it. sometimes it takes a little longer to get in touch with John(he has alot going on), but it's worth it to save some money and get great customer service.

there is not a company out there that hasn't had a bad converter every now and then. it's how those companies deal with these problems that says something about them. fuddle stands above the others in this area. John has always taken care of the customer instead of making excuses.

I wouldn't hesitate to buy another converter from John. I'm extremely pleased with mine and he will go above and beyond to make sure everything is as it should be. Fedex lost my original converter, so he built another for me and had it overnighted to my house.

Fuddle only gave me A+++++ customer service. I was blown away with how quick he was to answer questions, lend me a hand, and go out of his way to help me. Now, thanks to Fuddle, my car is a ******* sling shot!

I had great customer service from Fuddle when I ordered mine. If I had to buy another converter I wouldnt hesitate to get a Fuddle.

I'm not going to read the other replies. Im just going to state what Ive seen and my opinion. Ive communicated with them through emails and on the board and John seems to be a cool guy. Helpfull and everything. The problem on this board is when people ask for opinions nobody wants to hear the bad, just the good. As soon as someone comes in with thier bad experiance they get bashed and are flamed etc. What kind of place only allows good things to be said when that's only one half? Id rather hear the good and bad and decide for myself what I should do. You wont get that here. Watch and see. In the end the choice will always be yours and yours alone. It's up to you to weed out the fan boys and the haters. It's up to you to call and call and do the research and see if you feel comfortable with giving whatever company your money. Do this and in the end if youre happy with the final product or not youll know and you will have learned from it. Good luck in whatever you choose.

I'm in the market too and from my humble vantage point, based on the research I've done, you'll be fine if you're going with the lower end verter as those seem to be readily available. It's the Stage 2 verter and the delays caused by Foundry that are giving heartburn. I really haven't read too much regarding problems with performance it's all customer service stuff. I was going to go with the low end fuddle for the same reasons you mentioned but I think I'm going to go with a Yank instead. To me this has become like the Pacesetter vs QTP decision and you can see where I landed...

I'll say it again, if you don't mind being lied to, blown off, ignored, and grossly overcharged with $50 in shipping go ahead and order a Fuddle.

If you are ready to spend $500 on a converter, why not add a little more and buy from a well known company that has been around a while and proven themselves in the industry......... not from a one man operation that doesn't even give his customers the courtesy of returning phone calls and e-mails the majority of the time. It's odd how you can get a response if you are asking for a recommendation on buying a new converter from him, but after he gets your money he's too busy to reply any longer.

I am basing this on my personal experience, not just from what I've read.

Go to their website and click on "Buy Now" on any converter......................... this was the HP series for GM.....

Amount: $555.00 USD
Shipping & Handling: $50.00 USD
Total Amount: $605.00 USD

I questioned this when I first ordered it and was told this is their standard charge for EVERYONE, no matter where they are in the cont. 48............ so if you paid $36 shipping, I have a hard time believing it....... that's $14 John didn't get to pocket, and I doubt that's going to happen often.

I was conversing with him over email and he stopped responding. I must have asked too many questions! LOL!

Seriously though, he's been great so far at answering all of my questions and addressing any of my concerns. Hopefully he'll reply to my latest email soon.

I am not saying that Qwiktim didn't have a real complaint, but he is in the minority here. For every one person that has something bad to say about Fuddle there are 10 who are more than happy with the product, myself being one.
