Kman320.
I cant give you any track times after ther converter change. The cars still a track virgin. But as far as daily driving this converter has great street manners. It will lock up at 46mph and unlock with a blip of the throttle. The TCI conveter will give you a definite SOTP feeling and have no problem handling N2O. I have used TCI for year and have no problems what so ever.

Your car in your sig, although probably nice, is useless when trying to compare it in anyway to a ls1 even if it does have the same tranny. Torque and power curves are just to different.

Curious....Are there any plans to build a more race oriented converter to compete with the big yank?

Again....not bashing...just curious.

btw...I have a yank tp4400 so guess I'm a littel partial <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

Well I wouldnt mind if the TCI is .1 or .2 slower than the Vig or Yank ,since it is saving me almost $300.

I would too msce2b-dustin ,but I didnt really mod my car for straight line performance. With the $300 I save Id rather get slotted rotors and oaint my calipers red , that way I have the appearance mods covered. All I want the converter for is so I can run solid 12's.

Dustin, We have the two converters our StreetFighter (3000 stall) part # 242931 and the Super StreetFighter (3500 stall) part # 242932 available already. I think Jegs sells the StreetFighter for $450. The SSF should be around $500. We can custom build any converter up to 4800 stall. You can check out the New Products section on our website for details. www.tciauto.com
Do you think we should offer an 4000 or 4400 converter? We could easily add a part number for those applications.
Oh, about the test car, it was used to test durability. All of the initial testing on the 245 mm converter began on our converter dyno. After we were happy with the converter's performance on the dyno, we sent some test converters out to several LS1 F-body owners. Some even pulled out competitors converters to put ours in.
BTW, You're wrong about TCI coming in last in comparison to the other brands. I know who does, but I'm not here to bash.
Take Care,
Kevin

I think a 4k+ stall would be great if it outperformed the others or at leastperformed better for less money.

Heck..I have no brand loyalty. I ran a vig before this yank cause at the time the yanks were a little soft off the line. If you guys could come up with something that was better than my tp4400 than I'd be all for it.

I'd like to see one of our regulars try out a TCI converter and see what happens.

I have had a few converters in Project Dragula...

I think the collective feels that efficiency on the big end is pretty important, and some of us old Vigilante 3600 (4300 really) got tired of having like 1200 rpms of slippage thru the traps.

I know for me currently, I have a Yank 3600 behind my 422ci stroker. I really need about 4400 stall but I don't want it to be super sloppy on the big end, and I think that Yank does a very good job in that regard.

I have recently also talked to Art Carr, and they were trying to get me to try a nonlockup converter but I like having lockup.

I recently talked with a guy about buying his TCI 3000 for my 2002 WS6.
He said he got a intermitant SES light when driving at 45 mph.
What about this?

I'd be VERY interested to see some noteworthy LS1Tech.com folks testing TCI converters. We all know how good the Yanks are.

If TCI can build %96 efficient converters that pull 1.3 second 60 ft times, I'll be REALLY impressed! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="gr_images/icons/cool.gif" />

Keep us updated Kevin. <img border="0" alt="[Burnout]" title="" src="graemlins/burnout.gif" />

Fellas....I know it's not extremely noteworthy but 12.6's @ 109 with 1.75 60's in a 3600 lb car are what the 3000 TCI gave me over 13.1's.

The only problem was the occasional SES due to lockup problems.

I put in the Vig 3200 before I knew TCI made a bigger stall, and lost 3 MPH.

I have heard alittle about the SES light with a stall on 01 and 02 models. What causes this. I don't want to get a stall and find out 800 dollars later that it causes SES lights!

Uh. . SES light thing isn't specific for TCI converters I've seen Yanks do it to. It has to do with the converter wanted to lock/unlock weridly. It's really not that big of a deal. You can do two things to combat it 1.) Drive around town in D instead of OD or 2.) Get tuning that will move the lock up point like 5mph up. You gotta pay to play.

I wouldn't buy or put another Yank converter in my car if they gave me one! SLP sold me one that was out of balance and gave me all kinds of hell about getting my money back. They think there Converter's are the best. My opinion, TCI has been making and testing converters longer that Yank and PI. Besides, when ya'll say Yank and PI 3500 makes 3-4 more tenths than TCI. The converter ya'll compared it with was a 3000 converter. I would like to see a test done between the three. For the money, you can't beat the TCI Converter. Futhermore, all those big *** converters are for is the quarter mile and no drveability on the street. Any time you have to get use to a converter IT IS NOT STREETABLE!
