In response to the numerous questions in this thread regarding the availability of a Manual Valve body in a 4L60E. Yep, we have installed quite a few of these kits.

It takes the transmission to a full manual state, no automatic shifts whatsoever. There are advantages and disadvantages... we have found that guys making decent horsepower and have 3:73 and 4:10 gears have a hard time getting to 2nd gear quickly. There is a bit of a learning curve there... especially with street tires that just blow off immediately. But, each and every one of those guys loves it once they get the hang of it!

Problem is though.... the PCM will always provide for better ET's than manually shifting. It has been proven.

Hope that helps.

My buddy dyno'd at 430rwhp/380torque with heads/cam M6. He has had that thing apart countless times changing the clutch. His best time with street tires was 12.6 LOL! Hope he deosn't see this! With current mods in my sig, I can't wait to race him. My stalled auto is a blast to drive and I don't like anything more than rippin my own shifts but the auto's are proven performers. Enough said, buddy above said his next move is a th400. That should help out his ET issues a lil bit I think Also, my neck snappin stall is fun too, as for the chicks diggin sticks, mine loves my auto! Can't wait to get my blown 408 in, I'd like to see a m6 with that setup run times that an auto would. Good luck! I have also seen myself, a m6 car get slower with more mods done. Yes, driver is a main thing but it is alot harder to drive a m6 as you keep adding power. Another buddy back home is installing a blown 383 in a M6 right now, he couldn't drive it before. I can't wait to see how he drives the car after he's done the install

Both of my cars have been M6's, and I really want an auto with a nice sized converter. I rode in one once and they seem like a blast to drive.

You won't regret it. And get a quality stall. PI or Yank. I hear people with cheap stalls say they lose some kick if they try to roll race. I feel like mine didn't lose anything anywhere.

No need to choose. Manual or Auto at a flip of a switch. You can't shift faster than the ecu, but you CAN shift just as fast but gain control over issues like excessive wheelspin or wheel hop. Manual valve bodies are for dinosaurs. You guys have some of the most sophisticated small blocks ever developed. It's a shame to ditch your electronic transmission, when you can gain full manual mode for racing/messing around and full auto for traffic. TCI's trans controller offers this capability as does Powertrain Control Solutions (a Comp Cams company) Video:

LOL, your asking this in the auto section. Ask that same question in the manual trans section and you will get a different response.

For this car I think it will have to stay an A4. I only wish it was an A6 so you could get the better gas mileage and still have 4.10s or higher. Then that would be the best of both worlds. 6speeds are a blast to drive and are simpily the better choice for crusing and traveling. I voted stick since I do all of my driving on the street and see the track only 3-4 times a year. Both can be fun, both can be a pain in the ***. Got to go with what your primary use/goal for the car will require. So to beat a dead horse... An auto for drag racing on the street/strip, M6 for racing on the highway and cruising.

Well, this is an old *** thread but I'll still throw in my 2 cents. Just yesterday as I walk into Advanced, this dude says Jokingly "wow, that car sounds........stock". (I run with my exhaust open all the time) I say "yeah yeah, I know." He says "Manual?". I say "Nope." Then He starts growning and looking at me like I just screwed a dog. I just have to laugh and keep going. Maybe one day He will build a M6 car and I am sure he will love driving it, until that one day he lines up next to a stalled A4. I do agree that a M6 is fun though.
