You know ALL of this is THERE own OPINION. Its like trying to compare a ford and a chevy. Every body with Yank is saying Yank, and everybody with vig is saying vig. Heres what I would do if I were you. It is going to be expensive but oh well: Get which ever one you want, vig or yank. Then run it. Then find a buddy or somebody on a local bord with the different converter. Then drive it or run it. Find out which you want. All im doing is calling FLT. Asking them about my trans and telling them all my mods, then if they say the 4l80 is good then Im going to see which converter they say. Same with the 4l60 e if they say that will work. Its all up to you.

I was reading through this post and still have my stock stall. So your telling me that a 3000rpm stall won't let you roll foward in traffic? I kinda like how my call rolls up small hills at idle without any throttle.

If the ground is level, the car won't move at all. If you're on a hill, depending on how steep it is, you may actually roll backwards like the car was a manual. The larger the stall, the greater the effect. Once you get a bigger cam, the car will move like it did before you changed the stall. It all depends on cam selection, stall rating and gearing.

So say i install a TC around 3200 or so with a high STR (2.5-2.7) with 3.73 gears, how big of a cam would it take to act like normal, besides the lope?

I can't say. The cam I have is pretty big and at idle it's at 950rpms, which would explain why the car moves as soon as I let off the brakes. You can try searching PatrickG's posts, since he's done alot of cam swaps in his car and has given detailed info about them. Hope that helps.

Is there any truth to the rumor I heard from some of my friends that when the Yanks "go" they take the whole trans with it?? as opposed to the Vig?? I just installed a TCI MaxEffort StreetFighter 3200 and have to remove it due to a vibration and some other funky noises and am trying to decide which is better, I know the Vig is a few $$ more, but that is not a problem now, I will spend what I have to to get the best one, period... how much less "Efficient" is a Vig than a Yank, if that's true?

i dont have a vig or yank, but make sure the converter you get has a str of 2.0 or more, my fuddle 3600 1.8str (was on the car when i bought it) feels very loose when trying to drive conservatively. it feels great when i mash the gas pedal and it is very efficient up high, but driving around 30 mph and going up hills is between 2500-3000 rpms, it could be improved by getting a tune or putting in lower gears, or buying another converter. just a warning, as long as the str is high enough i think almost any stall can drive around town fine.

I just junked my fuddle for a yank pt4000. I installed it last weekend and I'm very happy with it. It feels like it gained 80 hp.

My Vig 3400 9.5" MultiDisc 3plate feels almost like stock, needs less than 2k to get it moving well from a stop, very impressed.. Flashes 3400 on the Nose! brake stalls 3200.. lay into it and it's a pure animal.. anything under 20mph and it roasts the 20's like they were bicycle tires

Which one did you end up with?
