stupid fuddle racing converters...stay away from them
well my fuddle lasted about 2k miles or so and then it broke. so i was getting a vig put in and had him look at my pump and it was shot. there was metal all through my tranny fluid. it was bad. so now $1200 later i will be getting a new pump, converter, and band because of a fuddle converter

that sucks to hear. when i first purchased my vig some 4 years ago i had the option of going with a midwest (popularized by a sponsor that is no longer around). sure i would of saved a couple hundred but i was skeptical of it. glad i didnt, they went under, along with another smaller company (i believe it was TCS) that guys were raving about that was also a sponsor. then fuddle, another small company. guys would bash me for recommending they stick with a vig or a yank. they're not about to close up shop. my vig has outlasted two transmissions and has 33k miles on it. runs as great as the day it was installed.
in case you can't tell, im a big fan of Precision Industries.

my fuddle converter has ~10k on it, with at least 50 track passes. the full weight car 60s low-mid 1.6 with just lcas, sfcs, and !frontswaybar. runs consistent 12.2x at the track, and still maintains 24+ mpg on the road.
there is nothing wrong with fuddle converters. should what happened to your car be the converter's fault, it is a rare occurance and could happen to any converter. your warranty is being honored with no problems, so why the shitty thread title?

4K miles on my Fuddle TC. Keeping my fingers crossed. Were you running a trans cooler? Which model torque converter did you purchase?

Listen to what your tranny is telling you...
Why did you dirve it around for 2K miles with it grinding away like that? Any converter will grind if its being made to lockup where it can't hold. This stems from a number of things, some tranny related, others tune related, and of course, a faulty converter. Basically, a small LU plate shouldnt lockup at anything less than around 43-45MPH in 4th gear.
The grinding noise you heard was the converter telling you "hey, I cant handle this, do domething before I break...". Same happens with ANY converter. They will ALL grind if given the wrong TCC lockup points, too little line pressure etc.. and a poor pressure profile in the TCC PWM program.
Some trannies seem to deliver better LU presuures than others, thank GM engineers for delivering us a not-so-quality-controlled transmission. If you listen to these noises, and do something about them, you can save yourself a lot of money and trouble. You would do the same for your engine...
Grinding converters come straight out in my books, before they break something. Either that, or get it tuned, if its not already tuned for a smaller LU plate/hi-stall.
I don't know if your tranny was tuned for the gearing and converter, but a hi-stall will not cope with stock shift lockup points.
Was it a HP series or the el-cheapo Performance series? HP series have awesome LU plates and I have never had a problem with them.
