The cost to repair the converter is not the issue , The cost o repair the damage to your trans if it comes apart thats a diffeent story all together ,When a converter fails many times it will trash the transmission due to contamination ,

Used here and no issues at all. Bought it with 8K miles on it. It's a gamble but one I was willing to take.

True in many cases with a low milage converter it may be fine , As long as the buyer understands that on the off chance there is a problem and the worst happens they have no one to point the finger at but themselves , It is all about acceptable risk

Yes, knowledge is everything. I bought a used Yank from a very straightforward guy who was completely honest with me. We e-mailed back and forth quite a few times. He delivered everything as promised, and I am very pleased with the deal and the converter. Proves there are good sellers out there....thanks, Ben.

Bought a used B&M 3000stall from a local guy, never even met him in person. Had 15,000 miles on it, and I needed one bad at the time. Has been in for about 20,000 miles now, no problems whatsoever.

My friend just got a Yank SS4000E off of a guy on here and sent it to yank and they told him it was garbage and it would be over $550 to fix so he just got a brand new one with a 2 yeard warentee on it for like $700

sooo $250 + $550 = $750 for a used converter
and $700 for a new 1... its your choice

Nothing wrong with used if your dealing with a straight forward seller. Check for feedback on the seller first. If there isn't any I wouldn't do it. If there is good feedback it may be a good deal. It's like a credit rating to determine acceptable risk! There are a lot of guys who just change their setup and are looking to sell the parts they no longer have use for.
