Default Speedo doesn't register until I hit 2nd...

Installed a new converter...no speed registering until just before I hit 2nd. Additionally, shifts 1 and 2 are fine but 3 is real sloppy and sometimes appears to overlap with 2nd causing a slight bucking under light throttle. If I launch 3/4 throttle she runs thru the gears with out error and sounds great/feels great. I can manually shift thru all gears at a stop, fulid level is perfect, temps are in the 150s (tranny) and lock-up is fine with ZERO codes. Is this simply a result of my car still being tuned for my previous converter (Fuddle) which was really loose. My Pro-Torque is awesome except for these issues above. Everyone I speak to thinks I just need to re-tune the tranny from scratch...since this is a more efficient converter all of my shift points/rpms/mph are slightly off...all of which work together when sending the proper message to the tranny.. My tranny/mph/shifts just seem to be electronically confused sometimes...make sense? Just looking for reassurance.

The variable speed sensor? I just replaced the vss wire. So you think it's the VSS? Anyway to tell? Can I change it without dropping the tranny? If so, can you give me a quick how-to?

its in the tail cone , you can look at the data strwam coruse the spedo is fed the same infor but since its from the tail thats all it can be either the VSS(vehicle speed sensor)or a wiring issue its easy to change 1 ten mm bolt .

When I dropped the tranny to install the converter I forgot to unplug the vss clip and the wire ripped in the middle...we tried sautering it but obviously is was a bad connection...which could've shorted the sensor. I've since replace the VSS wire with a new one leading me to believe it's the sensor. So basically crawl underneath on the passenger side and there's a 10mm bolt right where the VSS wire clips to the sensor? Pull it out and replace it. How much fluid can I expect to come rushing out. Do i need to disconnect the neg on the battery? Sorry for all the newbie questions...don't know crap about trannys. So a new VSS will do the trick? Thanks! HAve one you can overnight to VA? I can paypal/or credit card.

I cant say it will do the trick but it is the most logical next move , You should be able to get one at autozone or advance in stock .

I don't remember any fluid pouring out of mine (and if there was it wasn't much) when I did my VSS. I didn't have the same issue, but when I floored it my speedo was off and it wouldn't shift (RPM/Speed requirements didn't meet) so I had to replace it.
