I've been drag racing cars a heck of a lot faster than 12 seconds for almost 9 years so I have at least a fair idea of how to launch and drive down the drag strip
And I had no problems with spinning... I was running ET Streets on well-prepped tracks and my 60 ft times were VERY consistent, often varying less than .010 in 6 or 7 passes. That's just what the ST3500 did in my car... not just on that one pass, but on every pass I made at different tracks around the southeast. I, too, always wondered why other people were having these mid 1.6x short times with their ST3500 converters. Now, it did drop my car .7 seconds in the 1/8 mile and a full second in the 1/4 mi. The ST3500 did EXACTLY what everyone said it would do, ET-wise, even without the stellar 60 ft times that other people were getting. I have never said that it wouldn't perform. Surely you know that each car is different and ANY modification is going to perform differently in one car than it does in another. For example, the 3.73 gears did not pick up my Trans Am at all in the grand scheme of things. They dropped the 60' by .01, 1/8 mi by .04 (go figure) and SLOWED DOWN my 1/4 mi by .02 and 2 MPH On the other hand, in our SS, they dropped 60' by .05, 1/8 mi by almost a tenth, and we haven't run it in the 1/4 yet. Different cars, different converters, different effects... sorry that seems so incomprehensible to you

PS: Remember the weight difference as well... a full-weight convertible (as in, not even jack and spare removed) on heavy wheels (17x9.5 Boyd Coddingtons up front with 275/40/17's and stock 16x8's w/ 26/11.5/16 ET Streets in the rear) versus your TTop or hard top car with lightweight wheels and skinny tires up front (less rolling resistance)... you think that MAY have had anything to do with the ET and 60' differences?

Kristi has been drag racing since she was 16, and she's pulled down a solid $10,000 in race winnings in just one racing season. She's raced everything from 14-second LT1 Camaros to 10-second Chevy II wagons, so I think she knows what she's doing.

Spanky everyone is not trying to go ***** out.Well some are but dont want to spend the money and so they compromise and are really happy most of the time. But after a while they want a little bit more and end up spending more money to go faster.I have been there myself I mean who hasnt? But like my coach said do it right do it light do it wrong do it long.If I know there is a better product out there even though the competition is close and it cost a bit more I would still buy it.Some say I am stupid but those are the ones I use to laugh at when I was winning.A .1 here a .1 there and next thing you know you have a couple of tenths on the competition.Just food for thought.I am in no way bashing anyone but I am simply stating go with whats best not with whats cheaper because you will pay more in the long run.

I am relaxed , it just seems rediculous to spend more bucks for less bang. A SY3500 is far from "all out", and is as streetable, more reliable, and definately more proven than the TCI3500 that was a whopping $250 cheaper (Not the $400-$500 that has been thrown around ) In my opinion, $250 for .3-.6 more is "bang for the buck", especially in giving up no streetability or the "mild combo" that he is shooting for/happy with IMO. Again, no flames, just my opinion, and you know what they say about opinions....

Our SS picked up .80 in the 1/8 mile from headers, y-pipe and the TCI 3500 converter. Those were the very first mods we did. The car ran 9.01 bone stock (this was in mid June, 90+ degrees, humid) and the next week, same track, basically same weather conditions, it ran 8.20 with those 3 mods. And that was through the stock cat back (base SS cat-back, not dual/dual).

Kristi, 9.0 on the 1/8th seems slow for a bone stock SS. My '99 T/A ran 8.8 in the 1/8th stock in the 95F florida heat. Best guesses was it was only pushing 280rwhp. After Vig3000 + Mac Headers + Y Pipe w/ cats and Nittos, it was pulling 8.2s. Thats only with 300rwhp/311rwtq. I wonder if you just had crappy track conditions on those 9's.

I've seen plenty if LS1's run 8.8 to 9.2 in stock form here at Emerald coast dragstrip. I ran 8.9 when stock myself. Oh, and track conditions were good. 60 ft times on BFG comp TA's were 1.9 to 2.0.
