You probably just need to adjust the cable, I had to. There's a metal U-clip that gets removed from the cable adjustment by where it bolts to the trans pan, and then the top of the adjuster pops up so you can adjust the cable length and then pop the clip back down to hold it there. Be sure to note where the adjustment is for a reference point (how compressed the spring is) before you pop the clip up because there's tension from the spring on the adjuster and it will push the cable when the clip is removed.
Put the trans in neutral and put the console shifter in neutral and adjust the length of the cable until the ball on the end of the cable is lined up with the ball on the trans shifter arm, and then pop it on.

Started the install tonight on my car... that damn top bolt on the bell housing was a pain in the *** when removing the trans finally got it... Going to install the 80 tomorrow most likely, but my question is will my car RUN the 4l80 without the tune just for me to drive to the shop to get it tuned, which is 3 miles at most away? Planning on going slow an accelerating slow. When I put the procharger on it I went 10mph the whole way and never went above 1500 rpms lol...

you dont really need to adjust cable just re-drill holes on 4l60 bracket that bolts to the pan(to correct spaceing).

Man there is just too many pages to keep up with here. I will have to reread all of this two more times to get all the info I need! AUGH!
Maybe someone will be willing to help me finish up my 4L80 install.
Here is were I am at:
I am waiting (impatently) for my 4L80 to get here. I ordered my convertor yesterday from Circle D. I ordered the BMR crossmember today. I know I will need to get the drive shaft shortend, I am not sure how much. I ordered with the trans the 400 yoke and a different dip stick. I plan on removing the stainless hard tubing and using braded stainless steel lines instead. I already have my tune segment swapped for the 4L80 and I will be using my HP Tuner to write entire the PCM. I know I need to do something with the wiring. Will the 4L60 connecter clip to the 4L80? I was told all I had to do was to change up the pins and clip one wire loose. I also have to wire my transbrake switch to the wiring harness. Can anyone give me the correct info on what I need to do to the wiring? Also please inform me if I have left anything out.

You don't normally shorten the driveshaft for 4l80 its same as 4l60 or t56.I had to shorten mine for dana 60 not for my 4l80. You should rebalance though if you change yoke on existing driveshaft. Also at your power would recommend a strong strong driveshaft ,chrome moly front yoke and 1350 u joints.
I used the long lokar dipstick. Firewall mount.36 inch. Works fine. maybe you ordered same one.
You will need ears cut off the 4l80. My rpm 4l80 had then cut off by rpm. You will have to make a lot of clearance on the drivers side where big fat 4l80 wiring plug goes.
Easier to do before the trans is in there. Also if you change back fitting on newer not sure year 4l80 you need to make extension tube like factory fitting has. I used 90 degree an so didn't have to clearance on passenger side and made the tube for it.
Wiring should be cake for the 4l80. few companies sell harnesses or seen some guys wire up their own. I went from t56 so much more involved.
The bmr crossmember will usually rub on the trans case and oil pan. Need to file or dremel or whatever . Wish bmr would modify the crossmember a bit. Stock trans mount works. And you might have to shim up the trans mount to get things right at front of trans. Angle can be all messed up.
Of course you need compatible 4l80 stall they are different from 4l60 ones. And I used flexplate from speed inc. Tci one works as well I think not sure if can use stock 4l60 flexplate.
Actually it was very simple swap but would be so much simpler on 4l60 car. I had to get auto pedals, mess around with making plate to cover the hole, made plate to cover where master cylinder went and will have working neutral safety and reverse lights have not got shiftlock solenoid thing to work or shiftlock cable.

I think you need the big electrical plug no the 4l80 and just change some wires here and there sounds simple or places sell the adapter harness for pretty cheap .I got harness to go from t56 to 4l80 so it was like 100 bucks and pretty simple just had to put wires into ecu ,quite easy really.

PM me about wiring the brake.
X3 if you aren't changing the rear end, you only need to change the yoke on the driveshaft, no shortening needed.

I was doing some reading on using a pre 98 4L80E in a ls1 (actually a 5.3).
Saw pro stock john mentioned it on like page 4 but then some guy just responded with how he could walk him through it over the phone and that it was pretty easy.
Did I miss an explanation or could someone point me in the right direction to find the info?
Thanks!

Does anyone have pics on their install? I purchased the 4l80e torque arm relocation kit crossmember from BMR and I think I received the wrong part. The transmission seems to be too long for the part I received.

I filed bit on trans pan and trans case where the bmr is very close or might be touching .I also notched out the holes in the bmr crossmember so could shift it towards back of car to give more clearance between the pan /case and crossmember. Its on passenger side where it hits.
Also I cut off with hacksaw metal part on stock transmission mount that was contacting the crossmember mount and I had to shim up under the trans mount but that might be because have dana 60. I You might be able to reverse the stock mount as well. Or maybe I have mine on backwards.. Or maybe there is better mount to use than stock f body like stock 4l80 mount ? is 4l80 mount different from f body mount..anyone got pics of it?
You could be fine with poly mounts but don't like them they are too noisy for me.I think I should be fine for not breaking rubber mounts since the torque arm on mine is relocated to the crossmember. Also might be adding some rubber pads under the crossmember to further cut down on vibration. I like my cars especially street car like my 99 to be quiet if at all possible.
