yank 3000 torque converter or TCI 3000 Torque?
What do you guys think? Which one is better? Let me know, thanks. I am looking to have a converter which you will not notice during normal driving, but will really shine when floored. I.E. while highway racing, or taking off at the track.

Hey Raughammer. I was hoping to somehow get in touch with you. From what I hear, your the guy to talk to. I am not settled on a 3000 at all. I am just looking for HELP, but haven't found the answer I'm looking for. I know very little about torque converters, though I have had many people try to explain them. Basically, I am looking for someone to tell me which one to buy, where to buy it, and how much it will cost me. What I am looking for is one that you can get in my car, drive around, and not know I have one. UNTIL you floor it, then I want it to really pick up. I have 3.73 gears currently, and I plan on supercharging my car asap. ATI Procharger, 8# intercooled. I am looking to make at least a mid 10-second daily driver. For now, my best et is 12.78, but I know my car has a 12.6 in it with 2.0 60' on street tires with some better air (that 12.78 was with a 2.0 60' on a humid day). Anyways, I'm hoping with some et streets, and a converter to break an 11.9. Dunno if it's possible, but OVERALL, I want my car to be very driveable. I drove one car with a 4500 stall, and it was VERY loose. I realy had to push on the gas to get it to start driving. So please help. Thanks.

Some food for thought...Go with a 3200 stall with your set up, scratch the idea of the pro-charger for now and go with some Nitto street tires for traction...your gonna need them!! Put it this way, after the converter you should gain .4-.5 of a second depending on how your car is set up, but with 345 RWHP, I am guessing you have quite a bit done to the car. If you DO go with a pro-charger and are looking for a mid-10 sec. car, there is no such thing as traction on the street, I dont care what kind of tires you have! I would do a heads and cam package before a pro-charger...When you pop the hood, it still looks stock...until you start it up Besides, how many cars (in reality) are you going to come up against on the street that are going to be faster than you? Not many out there that turn anything faster than 12 flat anyway!! At least cars that can somewhat "hook up"

i already explained about my Yank SS3800E the SS3600 is even tighter so you might want to look into that one

I have 47k miles on car now. No warranty, so not worried about that. And by a daily driver, I basically mean something that will work as an every day car. Also, I have more than 345rwhp now, Prob. close to 355, 360rwhp, did some tuning, took cats off, and some other stuff. Won't get into that, though. I thought about doing heads/cam, but I am going to do that after procharger. Something that will accomodate a supercharger. And I want to buy parts one time, right, and only one time. I don't want to buy a converter for now, and switch it out in a year for something else. That's why I'm trying to do the research to get the EXACT converter I need.

The SY3500 is MADE for the street. It is a get in and go kinda torque converter. You wont hardly even know its there and the 3.73's will nicely compliment it's low STR.
Now, if you were willing to go for a little more stall and a little more looseness the SS3800 is one sWeeeeeet verter.
It has the best of the best components and top of the line engineering. Nothing else is in it's league for what it is.
The SY3500 is a plug and play and forget about it unless the hammer is down... the SS3800 is more of a verters verter. You will know it's there...but it wont be intrusive in you like the TP4200 I use on the street.
Up to you.. me personally i would lean to the SS cause I have been the Supercharger route and wont go back.
N/A is my field of dreams and thats where i'll stay to play.
If you want to keep it like stock but FAST go for the SY3500... if you want a bit more muscle...look to the SS for your good times.
Talk to Mike at Yank.... he will do you right. Tell him I said Hi. :-)

I guess I'll be the lone voice for the TCI. I have a TCI 3500 and am very happy with it. It came down to a value decision for me, I didn't believe the performance of the yank was worth the extra $400 or so it was going to cost.
