Default School me..difference between truck and car TC's

Forgive my ignorance, but I have no clue about TC's other than what they do. Is there any difference between a production stock truck converter, and a production car? For example, I have a 5.3/4l60E pullout that obviously came out of a truck. This is going in a 3200lbs Chevy II, does a truck converter stall higher than say a stock F body 4l60E? If/when I go to order a stall, does it matter what application I get it for car vs truck?

The two will be very close to one another and will bolt up just fine. The difference will be a couple hundred RPM in the stall rating. Vince

LS1 Style converters:
300MM Converters ~ 12" Diameter
6.0 & 5.3 TMBX
4.8 TLBX
4.3 TLCX
5.7 TMAX Camaro & Firebird LS1

2nd Letter is Stall
M is low Stall ~15-1700
L is High Stall ~ 18-2000

Best choice for a small bump in stall is the TLBX, it has stronger springs in the dampner.

278MM ~11" Diameter
Bravada,Envoy,Trailblazer
4.2 VJCX - Stall 2400+
24228709 GM Part Number
I Think the price is about $250-$300.

I can "tweak" the 278mm and get 28-3000, price is $350.00 - I provide the core. All new bearings and a Raybestos Spun Wound Carbon Linning. A good economical converter.

So you're saying that this converter, which came in production on mentioned vehicles, would work on a Ls1 4L60E and yield a better stall? If I was to get a used one from the yunk yard, and install it in a bolt on ls1, would the car benefit from it? would it just bolt right in? If I get one from you, what benefits would I see?

It is a direct replacement for the LS1 4L60E. I would be carefull of a junk yard core, unknown history, could wipe out a transmission. The benefits of my 11" would be a little higher stall, about 3-400 more then the stock 11", and you get a warranty.

A lot of trucks switch to the trailblazer stalls as an affordable option.

I'll think about that stall, I might buy one in the future from Circle-D Specialties since my car is a bolt on ls1, I think it can benefit from one converter like that one. I am working in getting a cooler first for the tranny. Thanks for the info Chris, if I ever decide to get one, be sure that I'll give you a call or pm.

I heard some truck guyz say they use the TC's from 4.3 trucks for higher stall but I think it was the sbc guys.... not sure if they work on ls1's
