sounds like you may have messed up....you may have incorrectly installed the verter and broke your pump...pull off a cooler line and start the vehicle and see if fluid pumps out if it doesnt then you have broke the pump lets start there and see what happens and we will go from there

Well it definitely sounds like the pump is doing it's job. How long did you run it and how much oil came out of the cooler line? I need a little more info however. What year is the vehicle, which trans and model are we dealing with here? I'm wondering if we have a mismatch of a converter.

i let it run for about 45 sec with the line out and put it back in. it pumped out enough to cover the front of my shirt. it is a 2000 trans am with the 4l60e trans and a 3200 TCI stall

Check that the fluid level is still OK, when I got my car back
from converter install #2 it was having a hard time going into
gear, after checking everything -but- the fluid I discovered
it was off-the-stick low, needed 4 more quarts. Maybe someone
filled it to the line before the new converter took its big gulp?
Fast idle it in gear (you wish) for a bit and make sure everything
has a chance to fill, blow out bubbles & settle in?

Also make sure the detent cable snap-adjuster or the cable end
itself wasn't left loose, making the trans just not know where it's
supposed to be.

It sounds like a broken pump. In 45 seconds at normal idle a 4L60e will pump almost 1/2 gal. per minute on the average. If you only had enough to make a small mess on your shirt, not that I have ever used this as a reference LOL, this was oil just draining out of the cooler lines. Let me ask you this question....did the oil come out of the line with some decent pressure or come out as a slow trickle or a slow drip so to speak? I think you have a busted pump. Vince

Yes as Vince said it should pump alot would be like turning on the garden hose. In 45 seconds you would have taken a small shower in the fluid. Liley you broke then pump but with a little luck you may not have killed the converter too. But since its aparently not pumping do not run the car anymore.
