Just Installed Spec Stage 3 clucth... damm hard!
I have a 98 z-28 i updated the hydros with a 02 slave and 02 adjustble master and i put in a spec stage 3 clutch. WTF im having the hardest time trying to start in first gear! like no matter what i do i shake the car. one thing i dont like is how i go half way up on the clucth pedal and then it engages at the very top. not used to that. on my systeam before it would engage as soon as you let off the pedal. ohh and i also did the drill mod. if anybody can help me out that would be nice!!! the clutch as of now has 60 miles on it. thanks!

I have installed quite a few of these clutches. The chatter is very normal with Spec Stage 3s. Some will quit after some break-in miles and others won't. Going to a steeper gear (4:10) does help.

Hope you have the newest version of the clutch. The vendor I got mine from had old stock and it was self adjustable. During shipping or storage one pin adjusted and I had problems. Spec sent me the new model, non-adjustable with a shim, and all is well.
The difference is adjusting springs on the pressure plate. The old model has three of them the new one doesn't.

The "chatter" or shaking is normal. It will probably go away after some break in miles, but it won't fully go away. As for the clutch engagement - get yourself an adjustable master if you aren't happy with the current engagemnent point.
To move the engagement point closer to the floor all you have to do is shorten the rod. Only make small changes at a time though. Shorten it by one turn the reattach and see how it feels. Do this until you get it where you want it. The only thing to be careful of is if you shorten it too much, the clutch might not disengage fully between shifts. You have to find a happy medium there. Good luck and let us know how it turns out.

If you run stock gearing(3.42) the chatter will be worst. You could also burn the clutch flat by slowly letting the clutch out at 4000 rpms to smooth out any high spots.

Check my post above. That pretty much covers it. That is if you are talking about moving the engagement point. That is what you're talking about right?
I had a star spec stage 3 kevlar clutch, it chattered a lot, but I got used to it, I didn't have an adjustable master, it engaged at the top....I also had 4.10's, and that did help out a lot.. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />
yea its like when im in 1st and i try to take off slowly,, the clutch chatters a hell of alot. i hate that. so far i got a 165 miles on it
mine chattered pretty bad for about 400-500 miles. Then I went and did some 3k dumps on a backroad and that pretty much took care of the chattering. I still get a little bit when taking off with the 3.42's, but nothing relaly more than my Z06 clutch did.
I also installed my Gen2 SPEC stage 3 carbon with my stock master cylinder, it engages about an inch off the floor. I also did not do the drill mod.
All in all the clutch seems to be holding up great. I went to the track last night and clipped off some 5000+ rpm launches, and the clutch didn't budge.

If you want it to engage closer to the floor all you have to do is locate the rod that connects the pedal to the master cylinder, disconnect it, shorten it about 2 turns, reattach it, then go drive. If it still isn't where you want it then repeat the process until you have it where you like it.
man my clutch still chatters violtnely when i take off slowly still havent mess with the master yet, will soon .238 miles on it soo far
