I am running 11.5 x 28 x 16 M/T ET Streets .. as big as I can fit in there.

Also, my car weighs a good deal more than yours, which does affect traction and wear on the drivetrain. I have an iron block, all the added suspension, the supercharger adding weight.

I have bought lightweight k-member, a-arms, ABS Deletion and QA1 shocks to lighten it, but I am just now getting that in there.

Default back to the original thread

I pulled transmission out and when I pulled the drive shaft out the output shaft came out about 5 inchs so maybe not a costly fix since trans was jus freshened .may go with a cryo treated shaft this time 10.05 @ 133 1.44 60ft

Best of luck. If you fix the output shaft the next thing to explode will be the rear planetary output shaft hub.You are asking to much of a transmission intially designed for right around 300ft lbs of Tq.

From what I've seen Century and Rossler build the best lasting 4L60 trannys. My tranny was originaly built by Century but my friend Greg at WRC Racing does all my tranny work now. His Orange TA has been 9.21 @ 146 on his own build 4L60 @ 3650lbs. My Red Formula runs consistant 9.8 -9.9s and the only problems I've had was breaking the sprag 2 times from spinning badly off the line and then grabbing traction all of a sudden. Not a sponsor but Rossler builds trannys for some of the fastest racecars around, if I didn't know Greg I would run a Rossler tranny.

No .. not saying those guys built any tranny of mine.

I was told by a tech at TCI that NOBODY would be able to build a 4L60E that would handle my setup. He said the 757 rear wheel torque is the problem. His recommendation was a 4L80E.

Caveman Several people have done what you state "breaking the sprag 2 times from spinning badly off the line and then grabbing traction all of a sudden" Try the new Borg Warner sprag. The sprag elements are .050" - .060" wider. It only comes from GM, and comes in a "complete assembly" only. Inner, outer races, sprag, hub and sun gear. Modify the sprag retainers to the old BW type sprags for better oiling. Everyone who has had these problems.... this fixed it. Dana

My car runs well into the 9s and sees 1.38 60s when track prep is good. If u wheel-hop, u can break anything, esp. the sprag. The components I use are the very same some of our forum vendors do, and I can say 200+ passes in the mid 9 to 10 flat range @ 3500lbs is a reaonable expectation. I will put the 4L65e into the 8s REAL soon, and it will not only live, but drive home. Just like a tune for the engine, trans calibrations might not be the same for all cars. I got a 3/4 clutch pack and a band/drum I removed from my 125+ pass unit to re-fresh, while I would not re-use these parts, they are far from toast. 300m input/output shafts, beast sunshell, billet servo, Z-pak 3/4, and most of the components in the trans-go kit (boost valve, shift valves, etc.) are the main players here. For the record, until the last re-fresh, I was using the 4-planet 4L60 gearsets as they are stronger than aftermarket 5-pinion units. The GM 5-pinions are they way to go, unless u are changing gear ratios and have no choice.
