I have owned autos and stick , Sticks are fun and so are autos. They both can be fast, As for durability I would say overall the same since when you get into higher power levels while the stick may not break the trans , Ussually theres a couple high dollar clutches in the year involved and the addition strain on the rest of the drive train.
But I personally get tire of shifting manuals since it seems I always end up living in and area with 25 mph speed limits and lotsa traffic lights.

I love my 6-speed and don't regret my choice.

However, It has become clear that a properly set-up automatic is the way to go. A th400 will be my next significant modification. (or maybe a powerglide if I can get her to go on a diet )

i love my stalled auto, but the only reason i would regret it is because of all the crap i get... "oh its not a manual? what, you cant drive or something?" that just pisses me off.

I solved this problem, one person at a time. Take them for a ride and show them what a auto with a big converter can do.

They provide less loss of power, better fuel economy, way more fun imo, and I never had a problem spanking a stock auto with my stock M6 and if you all say "well if I throw a stall in" well let me spend equal amount and I win again. one and only draw back=consistency, But I know you auto guy's miss dumping the clutch!!
There is a reason why stalled autos beat manuals at the track. When I was trapping 108 I used to run 12.3's to 12.4's consistently. I LOVE beating guys like you in a drag race. I'm pretty good at cutting a light so it's normal for me to jump out 2-3 cars by the 1/8 mile. Even with more rwhp the M6 guys lose because they just don't have enough track to reel me in

Then when we get back to the pits they'll have a million excuses with the "slipping clutch" being the most popular. I can cut 1.5x 60's, lift my front tires and go sideways from a low speed roll. And all this on a stock 10 bolt

I vote auto if you can't tell

I've got one of each but my vote is 6 spd

Converted the CETA to a TH350(from 6 spd)

My DD '00 Z28 is a 6 spd

I rowed the boat (drove manuals) for many years. I was tired of shifting, and especially the freaking clutch. I have no regrets for having an automatic, plus my right hand is free for other pursuits, such as assisting my lady passenger.

I have M6 in my LS2 carbed for road race and cruising weekend. Other Camaro w/auto (+201,miles) for heavy traffic and long lines in towns where Pegion Forge/ Smoky Mtn.Ntl Park or Atlanta.
I like both of M6 N Auto either.

M6's or A4's there fbodys owned and loved them both but with that being said, My present camaro is the fastest and most impressive of them all with the mods I have/had so my vote goes to the A4

A real man isn't defined by the car he drives. A real man doesn't need to insult 70% of ls1 fbody owners because of his ignorance.

A real man is defined by his actions, his integrity and his intelligence. And satisfying his woman doesn't hurt either
