Default tranny is in neutral wont engage into any gear

i started my car up after getting my starter ear welded back on and made sure all my fluids were good so i went for a test drive arround the firestone parking lot after about 4 or 5 laps arround the store i came to a stop and the car died, i started it back up and went to put it in drive but drive never kicked in, no reverse no forward but if put in park in doesnt move. we lifted it back up everthing is still connected verter is bolted on, the linkage is hooked up and u can c the lever on the side of the tranny moving but nothing. we hooked up the scanner and it shows current gear 1st and does not change regardles of what gear the selector is on. could i have burned it up it was built b4 it went in my car and i have only put about 8k miles of street driving on it. fluid coming out is very clean not sure what step i should take nxt

From what I read you have had it out to repair the bell housing . If that is the case you may have misstabbed the converter in the pump and damaged the pump rotor . I hope that isn't the case , but you can check it by pulling the dipstick out with the engine off and marking the fluid level on it and then start the engine . Check the level again . If the pump is working the level will drop with it running .

It probably wouldn't leak , but if the trans was not removed you probably didn't break the pump !!

well the trans was removed and the converter aswell and sat for about 5 months. when we were putting it in it didnt want to go in all the way so we took it back off and the verter was not all the way on the shaft but we never forced it. we thought it was electrical but no wires seem to be damaged. i guess ill have to take it off

the pump will need to be removed disassembled and inspected and at least the rotor replaced or you could just get another pump . Likely it already has a 13v pump

In most cases you will need to replace the pump. Reason being is there are probably some gouges from when it let loose. Find a trans local shop and have them swap it out for you.

Like we talked on the phone today... bring the transmission to me! Bring the converter as well. I want to inspect the hub.

We'll get you fixed up in no time!
