"Fewer than 100,000 Saab vehicles were sold last year, down from 133,000 two years earlier, and volumes have plummeted further this year." (worldwide)
GM really needs to get rid of Saab,

Only 7,800 Saabs were sold in the U.S last year.
That is a drop in the bucket even for how bad the whole auto industry is.
Just shut it down and be done with it.
Have any of you ever purchased a new Saab?
Have any of you ever owned a Saab?

I had an 89 saab 9000 turbo for a winter beater a few years ago. it wasn't a bad car. Kinda quick, heated seats and went through snow like a tank with snow tires on it.

They are just weird cars, i've thought about buying one, driven them, they are just weird. The costs to repair them never were in my favor either, i'm used to fixing dime a dozen gm cars like wbodies and cavaliers for DD's , cheap and easy. Saab's are neither cheap or easy.

I've got a 2005 Saab 9-7x and a 2006 Saab 9-3. I really like both of them. Think of the 9-7 as a smoother, better running, better built trailblazer, and the 9-3 as a better built, nicer quality Malibu with a turbo'd 2.0L turbo.
Our company (Johnson and Johnson) used Saab 9-3's as fleet vehicles for it's sales force for a while and I liked it enough to buy one. Back in 2005 when GM first introduced their GM employee pricing for the public, we were in the market for an suv and looked at all of the offerings from GM and decided on the 9-7x. It rode better than the trailblazer and envoy.

I actually have never met anyone who've owned them, but I've had the opportunity to drive them at work (used dealer) every so often. I think the key hole placement is clever, and it does seem to have a solid feel to it, which is real big with me. My favorite part of the 9-3 is goosing the turbo around, it's a fun sedan.

I kind of liked the newer Saabs. The older ones were goofy as hell, though. I'd say the only thing I don't like about the newer Saabs was that in manual cars you had to be in reverse to get the key out.
