The Camaro needs a Z51 or track pack type package to compete with the 2011 5.0. All the Camaro needs is 3.73s or 4.10s, better tranny gearing, softer tires, and a launch control system.

I bet GM drops the Gen V in the 2012 Camaro. Who wants to bet?

ah MT is hoping that by placing the camaro last it'll set something off at GM and they'll be more likely to change the car for next year.

I did notice that the GT has 3.73s, which is up from the previous model so thats something to consider, then again it isn't much bigger than the SS's gears.

That won't happen unless the Corvette gets it first (which could maybe happen for the 2011 model year potentially leaving your statement/bet still open for possibility in 2012 ).

Before a full Gen V motor comes out I could perhaps see a Direct Injection version of the current LS3/L99 finding it's way into the base Corvette and Camaro SS...more power AND better fuel economy if that happens.

They used an SRT instead of R/T did you read the begining?

Yea. Can you imagine the discounts you'll be able to find on 2010 Mustangs once the 2011's hit the lots? They'll have a hard time giving those things away. Even though I wouldn't mind having a 2011 sixxer to replace my 12 year old DD, I'm thinking that a heavily discounted 2010 model could suffice...plus save me a bundle.

I'm sure you can find those discounts now on the 2010 GT. Anyone in the market for a GT most likely knows about the 2011 model. I wouldn't think twice about waiting to get the '11 if I was in the market for one.

I read in the latest motortrend that the 2015 camaro will be on the same platform as the caddy. They also stated the Camaro will be smaller and hopefully lighter.

That article is just a Ford Mustang advertisement in disguise. At the end there is a link embedded in the article's picture sending you to dealers selling 2011 Mustangs.

Agreed. The Autos need it bad, I've heard the cars aren't even making close to what they should be. Still love the 2010 Camaro...

camaro needs to go on a diet and get some aggressive gearing. Mustang will probably have the edge unless camaro ups the power...Also why do we need these heavy 20" rims every new car is getting? 18" was always plenty enough i thought.

The camaro is ONLY losing off the line in this test (and usually runs 12.8 12.9 anyway)... look at the 0-30 numbers. .3's right there. Weight and gearing.... I also read the mustang stock tires are sticky for a street tire, so that will help obviously. Either way cars are very close and the battle is on!! New mustang has finally been able to bring something to the table without a blower!

For GM look at it this way... the LS3 has room to grow in the horsepower dept and in the displacement dept. 5.0 displacement is i believe maxxed at 5 liters. Not sure how much more power ford can get out of the 5.0 and still get it done with emissions. 470-480 horsepower out of the ls3 would be a breeze though. And the base vette would be closing in on z06 territory.

Also not that this matters but is interesting with the epa ratings. look at the observed fuel economy. challenger and camaro are nearly 2 mpg ahead of the much lighter mustang.

I told my wife that I would consider the Mustang GT were I in the market for a car. She told me she wouldn't consider getting one regardless how good it was. That's loyalty. lol

If I were in the market, the Mustang would definitely get the nod.

Seemed like they were really pushing the Mustang and not the competitor cars?

I haven't been impressed with any Mustangs since the 03/04 Cobra. I still don't like the styling of the new Stang's... BUT atleast Ford finally gave something to the Fan's. Now that I think of it I really only like the SRT8's looks but still wouldn't buy one. All the car's these days weigh as much as my 5.9 Jeep

Maybe when I called it loyalty I gave it the wrong name. Maybe she wouldn't want me to have one because there are just to many others out there. Maybe she doesn't like the way it looks.

Going further, I could compare brand loyalty to team loyalty in sports. How many of you liked, say, Pittsburgh when they finally had a decent hockey team again or when the Steelers started to pull it together? How many like the Yankees even when they don't make it to postseason play? Fair weather fans aren't fans, they are fad chasers. I'm a Blues fan even though they have been less than awesome since the lock out.

Good points.

As for calling loyalty and blindness the same thing?
I'm pretty sure that's not exactly what was meant by it but just in case....
I suppose loyalty and faithfulness to one's spouse is just blindness?
How about to one's children?
How about loyalty to one's nation, abiding by it's laws and supporting it's administration and military, is that just mere blindness too?
I see very few flaws in being loyal to something/someone as long as it doesn't harm the general population/society or break it's laws.
