Default 2011 Camaro Information

http://www.moderncamaro.com/forum/sh...ad.php?t=22582

* new HP rating of 312 horsepower on the V6 (3.6L SIDI V6)
* Synergy Green will be offered on ALL models for a limited time
* Heads-up-display (HUD) will be offered as standard equipment on the 2LT and 2SS models

I expected more, like some track pack options or a minor weight loss...then again I had high hopes.

Disappointing. I also thought there would be some kind of track pack option, especially since both Mustang and Challenger offer one. Maybe even a lighter weight wheel/sticky tire option. Oh well.

Nice to see that they responded to (and won, for now) the horsepower war that the Mustang V6 was starting...unfortunately it still won't be quite enough to beat the lighter 'stang in a straight line race.
I'd heard about that green color a few weeks ago as well, it's a 'V6 only' color I believe and from what I've heard is among GM/Chevrolet's hopes to increase V6 orders/sales over V8 ones to bring the CAFE numbers more in line.

Read about it earlier and guess it only makes more HP now because of a new SAE certification, and no changes to the engine happened. So technically the '10 models are rated at the same number, but still heavier than the Mustang by a good 300 or so.

That's it. I mean I can understand if it's maybe too late to do anything to them... When will they actually start building the new ones?

2011 Lt....3741/312hp = 11.99 lb/hp = 14.3 @ 98.0mph
2011 v6stng 3459/305 = 11.34 lb/hp = 13.7 @ 102

Our 0-to-60-mph time for the 2010 Camaro V-6 is 5.9 seconds, while the 2011 Mustang V-6 we recently tested got up to speed in 5.4; it’s unlikely that an extra 8 hp and 5 lb-ft would close that gap—especially because they were already there in the first place.

-car and driver

Note: Before anyone starts crying foul we'd like to point out that yes we do realize that the 2011 Camaro V6 has an "additional" 8 horsepower over the previous year. However even General Motors themselves have admitted that the increase in horsepower was purely due to the 2010 model's power rating being conservative. That means that the 2011 and 2010 Camaro V6 share identical engines and both have the same horsepower. Furthermore from what we've read the 2011 Camaro LT (V6) will have very few, if any, performance upgrades which would skew the test results that InsideLine has recorded.

-inside line

the only thing that would make this whole "king of horsepower" thing more hilarious, is if Ford SAE certified the 3.7 at 313hp. now that would be stupid. and ford would deserve to get hammered in the press.

I hope the lack of "action" on GM's part means that they are going to bump up the alpha platform change over to 2012 or 2013, we shall see. That would also be a good time to roll out the new Z28 but we have already seen the Z28test mule and it was in the zeta platform. And the covertable mule was shown on the zeta platform as well. Maybe they won't bump it up then.

The LS3 has room to grow still. We'll see power bumps in that engine before we see a new platform (after all, Camaro has only been back for 1 year, don't expect a new platform any time in the next few years IMO).

I agree, on both points.
