Hopefully this really helps to drive down C5 prices, I'm hoping to be in the market for one in about 5 years or so after my son is a bit older, and it'd be super ****** nice to find a nice, <60k miles 6 speed targa with simple mods already done for under 20k, or even a C6 for close to 20.

I've watched every video so far. I love how they thought about the design and the history of the designs and decided to shake it up. It needed a fresh look and once people realize that and see it on the streets I think opinions will change. I mean hell look at this p/s with hre wheels on it.

I also just saw the gear ratio spread for the 7-speed manual...0.42 7th gear for the non-Z51? Geez...that's worse than my Viper's 0.5 6th with a 3.07 rear. I thought they might be going with a 7 speed for performance, but they are trying to eek out better fuel economy. Granted, the auto blipping will make you look like a hero on the road course, but still.

I just went back and looked at that...how in the hell do they have a 100 lb lighter frame, yet end up heavier than the previous base model by 150 lbs? That just doesn't seem to add up considering they've been touting that this will be substantially lighter than the outgoing platform. That's gotta be a typo, or they are just low balling the hell out of the projected specs.

Yes, that is what they meant, but the base model Vette is listed with a curb weight of 3,200 lbs. Take 100 lbs off of that for the lighter standard frame, and you now have a 3,100 lb car without touching anything else. They also removed about 40 lbs of weight from the body panels. The reveal video stated an estimated curb weight of 3,350, so where is all of this extra weight coming from? Heated and ventilated seats...okay, maybe a couple pounds. I'm sure the new engine with DI weighs a bit more, but there's around 290 lbs worth of stuff that's not accounted for in that estimated curb weight, so either the estimate is very, very conservative, or it's toting around some lead bricks somewhere under those body panels.

3.07*.5 = 1.535
3.73*.42 = 1.566
Current Corvette is
3.42*.5 = 1.71 - I think both of those are correct
4.10*.42 = 1.722
Just thinking of options.

I haven't seen what rear gear they are running, but that tall of a 7th gear would give them the option of running something in the 3.73/3.90 bracket instead of the 3.42 they do now.
