It's a free download to boot, I'll let you know how it drives when it's released tomorrow

So.....what it's showing is the Stingray will go over 350 MPH in 7th! Awesome!!!

Seriously, though, I am a little surprised that 1-4 are the performance gears and that 5-7 are overdrives. Seems like a bit of a waste. Would love to know how much fuel is saved in 6th @ 70 vs. 7th @ 70. I guess every drop helps....

Uh...yeah! It might take a couple miles to get there, but it'll get there.

That thing is going to be a dog in 7th gear on the highway...a Viper in 6th gear with 3.07 gears is a dog anywhere under about 80, and an 8.4L V-10 isn't lacking in the torque department. I know the LT1 is supposed to have a little more low end grunt to it, but damn...having to downshift from 7th to 6th or 5th to pass someone would get old.

Dual final drives would have helped.. Then they could still have a 6 speed.

Adding the 7th gear probably puts the EPA's MPG formula [further] into the green zone. Any other option would most likely increase the price of the car and/or suck up power. So basically you have a 6 speed transmission (like before) with an EPA gear that maintains performance while keeping you from paying gas guzzler taxes and helps keeps the fleet within spec.

That thing is going to be turning something like 1525rpms @60 mph with that gear. First thing that cars needs is a gear swap. The nice thing is you could get all the benefits of a 3.90/410 with few negatives. May even help effeciency in a non-EPA test scenario.

I got 1079 RPMs with a 285/35/19 rear tire, 0.42 7th gear, 3.42 rear @ 60MPH.

Take 100 lbs off of that for the lighter standard frame, and you now have a 3,100 lb car without touching anything else. They also removed about 40 lbs of weight from the body panels. The reveal video stated an estimated curb weight of 3,350, so where is all of this extra weight coming from? Heated and ventilated seats...okay, maybe a couple pounds. I'm sure the new engine with DI weighs a bit more, but there's around 290 lbs worth of stuff that's not accounted for in that estimated curb weight, so either the estimate is very, very conservative, or it's toting around some lead bricks somewhere under those body panels.
A couple pounds for the seats? The current difference between a base C6 Corvette and a fully loaded one is 150lbs, with the biggest difference being the seats. Was the 3350 weight fully optioned? That'd make it the same as the current C6 fully loaded, which is pretty sad. It'll be even worse if that's the weight on the no-options base model.

What the **** is up with the gear ratios? A 7-speed should have meant a close ratio 6-speed with 7th gear being where 6th used to be. I probably over read someone else posting this, but those are the EXACT gear ratios of the current TR6060 for the base C6 and base C7+one more even more useless gear, as is the C7 Z51 gear ratios and the C6 GS. Are they that stupid at GM? That 7th gear can't add anything for gas mileage over the already useless 6th gear. I thought this was a PERFORMANCE car?

I get the same. I forgot Corvettes run basically a 27in tire in the rear. I was working off a 26 in tire effectively.

I have no idea what a C6 seat weighs...never messed with one. The ones in my Viper aren't light, but then again, they don't have fans/heating elements/reach around givers/etc. that these ones appear to. I wouldn't think it would add a ton of weight, but I've been wrong about many things before.

Base C6 has one basic power driver seat and the passenger seat is all manual, no air bags in either. Fully loaded has dual heated memory seats with side airbags. I couldn't find the weight listed for them, but most of the added weight is from the seats.

I hereby retract my statement on the interior in a previous thread. That looks like a truly wonderful place to be. I would love to buy one if I could afford it.

I can't wait for Jeremy Clarkson to tell us why it's crap, useless, and bonkers and we should totally buy it.

Forgot about them having airbags in them...I'm guessing crash standards have gotten a little more stringent over the 9 years that the C6 has been out.

Will use transversely mounted composite leaf springs front and rear, just like the C4, C5, and C6. There are suspension pics on GMs site. Heres the rear:

Suspension seems to be basically revised C5/C6 style suspension, nothing crazy new.
The 6 speed auto seems to be a revised version of the slush box from the C6, for now...

^ Yeah, was looking at that earlier. Didn't see any leafs though, but didn't see any other springs either. Probably underneath as they were before.

The car is so badass, I will overlook the sketchy read end and the quad tips. Simply awesome! Must buy one!
