$60k rumored for the C7 SR... But yeah, I'm hoping C6 prices will drop a bit. I'd sell my Z28 for a C6Z.

I agree, to me there is just way too much tech. And in the GM world, that just means much more to go wrong. Hope they offer a stellar warranty that covers all electronics for 100k miles because you know that **** ain't gonna last long. I guess I'm more of a simple, get the job done without any toys kinda guy. Hence why I drive a Camaro I guess

Hopefully this really helps to drive down C5 prices, I'm hoping to be in the market for one in about 5 years or so after my son is a bit older, and it'd be super ****** nice to find a nice, <60k miles 6 speed targa with simple mods already done for under 20k, or even a C6 for close to 20.

I like it but want to see it in person. I beleive the 2013 base model corvette weights just over 3,200 lbs. The Z06 is lighter due to having an aluminum frame.

You're right...3,208 is what they list for the base model, 3,333 for the ZR1 and 3,175 for the ZO6. It'll be interesting to see where this new base model fits...I guess close to 3,000 really isn't out of the question. That's pretty nice for a change.

Talks about the weight and frame in the video that was posted earlier.

Most likely from dealer upcharges, in the video they already mentioned the MSRP price.

I've watched every video so far. I love how they thought about the design and the history of the designs and decided to shake it up. It needed a fresh look and once people realize that and see it on the streets I think opinions will change. I mean hell look at this p/s with hre wheels on it.

Supposed to weight 3350 according to the GM execs in the video.

I just went back and looked at that...how in the hell do they have a 100 lb lighter frame, yet end up heavier than the previous base model by 150 lbs? That just doesn't seem to add up considering they've been touting that this will be substantially lighter than the outgoing platform. That's gotta be a typo, or they are just low balling the hell out of the projected specs.

Most likely from interior improvements, seats, and the electronic power steering.

I also just saw the gear ratio spread for the 7-speed manual...0.42 7th gear for the non-Z51? Geez...that's worse than my Viper's 0.5 6th with a 3.07 rear. I thought they might be going with a 7 speed for performance, but they are trying to eek out better fuel economy. Granted, the auto blipping will make you look like a hero on the road course, but still.

I think they meant the 2014 frame will be 100 lbs lighter than the outgoing non z06/zr1 models. So now even the cheapest model will come with the aluminum frame.

Yes, that is what they meant, but the base model Vette is listed with a curb weight of 3,200 lbs. Take 100 lbs off of that for the lighter standard frame, and you now have a 3,100 lb car without touching anything else. They also removed about 40 lbs of weight from the body panels. The reveal video stated an estimated curb weight of 3,350, so where is all of this extra weight coming from? Heated and ventilated seats...okay, maybe a couple pounds. I'm sure the new engine with DI weighs a bit more, but there's around 290 lbs worth of stuff that's not accounted for in that estimated curb weight, so either the estimate is very, very conservative, or it's toting around some lead bricks somewhere under those body panels.

I haven't seen what rear gear they are running, but that tall of a 7th gear would give them the option of running something in the 3.73/3.90 bracket instead of the 3.42 they do now.

3.07*.5 = 1.535
3.73*.42 = 1.566

Current Corvette is
3.42*.5 = 1.71 - I think both of those are correct
4.10*.42 = 1.722

Just thinking of options.

The graph I saw showed a 3.42 rear for both the base and Z51 coupes, although the transmission gearing is a bit revised for the Z51.

^ I wonder if they got some sneak rights to specs/pics and agreed to release it after the unveiling.
