Default Cadillac confirms 420hp TT V6 for 2014 CTS

Autoblog

the biggest news for the midsize Caddy will be a twin-turbocharged V6 producing a whopping 420 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque.

This LF3 engine will be paired to a new eight-speed automatic transmission, which will help balance performance and fuel economy. [...]General Motors says that the new sedan will return 17 miles per gallon in the city and 25 mpg highway with the new engine to go with a 0-60 mile per hour time of 4.6 seconds..

I'm willing to bet this shows up in the ATS-V as well. Looks good on paper though.

If it was a V engine it would have said in the press release.

The good news is it will probably end up as an option in every GM vehicle that uses the normal 3.6L V6... eventually. Like Ford's twin-turbo V6.

Too bad GM is late to the game on this and that it's Cadillac-only right now.

This would be a nice option for the 6th Gen Camaro as well as the smaller GM trucks/SUV's

Badass motor.

Good thing is that it can fit in FWD/AWD setups as well as RWD.

The V will mostly likely have an S/C version of the LT1 so don't get too down in the dumps yet.

If GM had any brains they would put that motor in the new Chevy SS as a base model and price the car in the low $30's and sell a ton of them.

It has more power than the v8 they're putting in it.

Stock yes (5hp) but the LS3 has a lot more left in it. Where as the the V6 is pretty much tweaked to the max. Put twin turbos on the LS3 and the V6 won't be able to keep up.

The v6 would have plenty left in it, if it's anything like the ecoboost stuff a tune alone will do wonders for it.. You can't compare a aftermarket turbo'd ls3 to a stock turbo v6.

No way. The ats-v will try to compete with the m3/m4 which will be tt v6 power. Do you really think they will put the same motor in the ast-v as the next (larger) cts-v? It could get the lt1, but it would be naturally aspirated. I would surely think a version of this motor will be in the hot buicks when/if they arrive.

The ecoboost puts out 380hp so the GM V6 is already tuned for more performance. A turbocharged LS3 will put out more power than an aftermarket ecoboost any day of the week since it's a bigger motor.

I agree plus the ATS is a smaller car than the CTS so it might not accept a V8 under the hood. Hopefully Buick makes a GNX using this motor instead of the wimpy GS they have now.

I think the ATS-V should have the V6 TT & the CTS-V should have a S/C LT1
